Summer lunch program now underway

The summer lunch program, Outdoor Cafe 2020, got underway on Wednesday in the Cathlamet area and will be available in the Westend beginning June 22.

The program provides free meals to local families who have kids 18 and under in their households.

Meals will be available for pickup or delivery on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays until August 28. Each lunch bag will contain two meals for the day.

Pickup is available at J.A. Wendt Elementary between 10:30-11:30 a.m., and at Rosburg Hall between 11:15 a.m.- noon.

Delivery will be available for anyone who is unable to pick up their meals.

On Mondays, volunteers will also provide breakfast bags with assorted cereals, juice, yogurt, muffins, or instant oatmeal. On Wednesdays, a garden bag will be offered, containing produce from the school garden. On Fridays, participants can take home a GAP Bag containing canned foods, peanut butter, boxed pastas, and pantry staple items.

To participate, contact Meadow Meeder at meederm@co.wahkiakum.wa.us or 360-751-7149. Volunteers are needed.
