Bob's mobile station, you have probably seen him driving around town.

Amateur Radio Field Day is upon us again. It comes up every year on the fourth full weekend of June, when amateur radio operators test their emergency skills to make contact with as many other operators around the world as they can.

Last year the Wahkiakum Club (N7WAH) set up several stations at the high school ballfields and placed 4th nationally in the low power battery category. This year, due to the covid-19 pandemic, they are operating as an outstation club. Thus, they will be scattered all over the county, operating separately, and combining individual scores for a club score. They will also find out which operator has the best station for contacting others should the "big one" ever happen.

From west to east they will be scattered: Peter WR8Z (home, Altoona), Ron W7ERY (boat, anchored in Gray's Bay), Richard KC4ONA (home, Skamokawa), Bob WB6AGE (mobile on a hilltop above Cathlamet), Dale KC7IVJ (home, Puget Island), Will N7TSM (home, east Cathlamet), Steve K7SH (home, SR4 well east of Cathlamet).

They invite the public, elected officials, and emergency services staff to visit one or more of their stations. Contact Steve at k7sh@hotmail.com if you would like to see a station in operation. They start at noon on Saturday June 27, working straight through the night, and end at noon Sunday June 28. For more information check out their club website at https://n7wah.net/.
