Online forum for state senate candidates set for July 15

The Wahkiakum Republican and Democratic Subcommittee for Debates/Forums will host an online, virtual debate/forum July 15 for Legislative District 19 State Senate candidates.

The debate/forum follows an earlier forum for candidates for the Wahkiakum County Board of Commissioners.

"The voters of Wahkiakum attended the commissioners virtual debate on Zoom and YouTube to make it a success," commented Deborah Lincoln, subcommittee spokesperson. "Thanks for your support with this new form of communication."

The next debate/forum will feature District 19 senate candidates: Incumbent Dean Takko (D) and challengers Wes Cormier (R) and Jeff Wilson (R). It is scheduled for July 15, 7-8 p.m.

Voters from the five counties in LD 19 can attend this virtual debate and also pose questions for the candidates.

Zoom platform participation is limited to 100 persons. After that webinar fills up, attendees will need to watch on YouTube. It is the exact same webinar, just delayed 30 seconds, Lincoln said.

People also have an opportunity to submit questions via email by 5 p.m. the day before the virtual debate; submit them to: wahkiakumrdteam@gmail.com.

Attendees will not be allowed to ask questions during the virtual debate.

"Again this will be an historic event," Lincoln said. "Our subcommittee is committed to helping voters get to know candidates and allowing attendees to ask questions they care about."
