New stylist at work in old barbershop

Lisett Pena, right, was happily giving a walk-in customer a new look on Friday at her newly opened House of Shades II on Main Street in Cathlamet.

Lisett Pena has opened House of Shades II in the old barbershop on Main Street, and already local clients, old and new, are keeping her busy.

"I'm super grateful for the wonderful support in the community," Pena said on Thursday.

Pena spends most of the week working out of her other salon in Longview, the original House of Shade, but as a Wahkiakum County resident with so many locals heading east to see her, she decided that it was a good time to set up a second shop closer to home.

When Pena first started, she mainly focused on men's hair but she has since added women's hair to her skill set. She is passionate about the whole business and has had extensive training, constantly taking classes to stay up to date with trends in cuts and color.

"I take a lot of pride in what I do and in my education," Pena said.

House of Shades II is open Thursdays, Fridays, and first and third Saturdays. Walk-ins are welcome from 9-11 a.m., but after that she's available by appointment only. Color requires extra time, so she's asked any future clients who would like that service to make an appointment. Cuts are $35 for women, $15 for senior women, $25 for men, and $12 for senior men. Haircuts for veterans are free. Pena also does facial waxing and brow tinting. Call 360-560-0360 for an appointment.
