Vista Park neighbor likes no shooting zone

To The Eagle:
I agree with the no shooting zone around Vista Park as proposed by county commissioners. I own the tract bordering the park, and we do not allow hunting, as we are applying for wildlife grants to protect animals.
Unless Vista Park residents and visitors feel the need to shoot at each other, there is no need for any gunfire. I wanted to open up the land for people to explore, but on the advice of neighbors, including a deputy sheriff, there will always be people who take advantage and cause problems, so we have a no trespassing policy.
In brighter, more positive news, we have given Steve Carson a spot so he can provide internet service to the area. My understanding is there are families and students who have no service.
Also, we have offered Port 2 an easement to build a path so that hikers can enjoy the long stretches of beach. Sometimes people who grow up and spend their lives in one place don’t appreciate how special their own area might be. I have traveled all over, and the area around the park is as scenic and peaceful as any of our touristy and over-hyped national parks. Let’s keep it that way.
