Lure coursing set for final week of September

The hounds will be running again at Misty River Plantation, 117 Cross Dike Road on Puget Island, the weekend of September 26-27. Spring and early summer events were canceled due to the covid virus lockdown, but the sponsoring group has received authorization from the AKC to resume lure coursing trials in late September.

The event will feature both long course running, chasing the bunny lure around a random track, and straight timed dashes in which you can obtain an actual miles per hour score for your dog. The run is open to all dogs, registered or non-registered, purebred or mixed breed, and the public (and their dogs) are invited to attend as spectators. Times and schedules will be published in The Eagle the week prior to the trial, and the event will comply with the current covid rules. In the meantime, further information is available on the Willamette Valley Basenji Club website.
