The Tony Soprano of American politics?

October 22, 2020

To The Eagle:

Last week was filled with strange and wondrous landmarks in the annals of American journalism. On Tuesday, the New York Times reported that President Trump’s response to Covid-19 was efficient and effective, and the World Health Organization released a statement that lockdowns were medically ineffective and economically and socially disastrous, and we should use individual initiative and protect the most vulnerable instead. There is no known reason for the NY Times rare moment of truth and candor about Trump, but it is obvious that the folks at WHO read the Wahkiakum Eagle and absorbed the fine points of Mike Backman’s policy statement.

A couple of days later the New York Post (founded 1801 by Alexander Hamilton) printed a story about emails from Hunter Biden’s laptop revealing an international influence-peddling operation staffed by many members of the extended Biden family, all of whom were required to kick back 50 percent of their ill-gotten gains to Papa Joe. The mainstream media tried to suppress it, Facebook and Twitter launched into full censorship mode, earning them a lawsuit from the Republican Party, and Joe himself has acquired a new sobriquet: the Tony Soprano of American politics.

“‘Curiouser and curiouser!’ cried Alice.”
