One person tested positive for covid-19 on Wednesday, bringing the total of confirmed cases in Wahkiakum County to 44.

The individual is in self-quarantine according to a press release from Wahkiakum Health and Human Services. There is no known connection to Wahkiakum School District or St. James Family Center.

Person to person spread is confirmed to be active in the county, and the risk of contracting covid-19 in Washington is increasing dramatically.

WHHS is urging citizens to practice safety measures such as social distancing, staying at home, wearing a mask if you have to socialize, restricting activities to household members only, and considering holiday plans carefully.

The health department is working to identify anyone who may have an exposure risk because of close contact with the person. Anyone who is determined to have been in close contact will be notified by WHHS staff.
