Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

November 30 — 12:13 a.m. The Grays River ambulance provided a lift assist to a Grays River resident who had fallen. 8:36 a.m. A dozen duck decoys were found near Hornstra Beach. 11:33 a.m. A caller reported that hunters were shooting water fowl right in front of his Skamokawa home, and possibly on the refuge. A deputy responded, and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified. 3:24 p.m. A caller complained that a neighbor was blowing big pieces of gravel onto a Cathlamet street. 4:44 p.m. A Cathlamet resident claimed that her neighbor’s daughter had violated a restraining order. The caller said that the daughter had been yelling at the caller’s boyfriend, and when the daughter stepped towards him, the caller’s dog nipped the neighbor’s daughter. The caller then said that the daughter told the caller’s boyfriend that they needed to move their things off the deck because they planned to power wash it. 5:09 p.m. A caller reported that a possible drunk driver in a tan vehicle that was pulling a small trailer had gone into a ditch in the Naselle area. The caller said there was alcohol on the seat and that he had advised the driver to stay where she was, but the driver said she was headed to Tacoma and turned onto South Valley Road. Pacific County, state patrol, and the Wahkiakum County Sheriff’s Department were notified. 5:49 p.m. A fire alarm was accidentally set off at a Cathlamet home. 8:04 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident who had fallen.

December 1 — 1:10 p.m. A caller requested assistance after getting locked out of a vehicle. 2:08 p.m. A Longview resident reported that a child may have been sexually assaulted by a family member at a Wahkiakum County home. She was advised to contact authorities in Longview. 3:22 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident who was complaining of abdominal pain and pain while urinating. The patient refused transport and also refused to sign the refusal form. 3:41 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident who was weak and confused. 3:49 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident heard an alarm coming from a neighboring property when she left in the morning and said it was still going when she returned four hours later. She wasn’t sure where it was coming from and hadn’t investigated. She called back at 4:06 p.m. to say it was a septic alarm. 3:57 p.m. A caller asked for assistance after getting locked out of his vehicle. 4:05 p.m. An Alger Creek resident reported that his vehicle had been side swiped. 5:37 p.m. A caller reported that a dog had been hit by a vehicle in Grays River. A deputy responded. State patrol was notified and the owner was en route. 10:38 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident complaining of chest pain.

December 2 — 12:52 a.m. A taxi driver reported that he had not been paid after dropping off a teenage passenger at an Elochoman Valley home. He thought something didn’t seem right when the young man snuck around to the back of the house. A deputy contacted the homeowners, who said their kids had not left the home. The taxi driver told the deputy that he had picked up his passenger in Longview; the boy told him that he had met a girl online and he was headed to her house. He believed her parents were out of town. The homeowner called back and said that the boy was found in the garage, and that his backpack was found in his daughter’s room. The homeowner asked to have the subject removed from the premises. A deputy took the boy to the sheriff’s office, and his mother was contacted. She arrived at 3:15 a.m. and took the boy home after being informed that Child Protective Services would be notified. 2:07 a.m. A caller asked for assistance after getting locked out of his vehicle. 3:31 p.m. An east county resident reported that a suspicious man wearing makeup and a blond wig was sitting in a car in his driveway. The man left after the caller ran him off, heading towards County Line Park. 5:28 p.m. A caller reported suspicious activity at the high school in Cathlamet. 7:15 p.m. A caller found a truck flipped over and in a ditch along Beaver Creek Road. The caller said he didn’t see anyone. A deputy, the Cathlamet ambulance, the District 4 Fire Department, and the county road department responded. An individual refused transport to the hospital.

December 3 — 8:14 a.m. A caller reported that several cows were loose on Middle Valley Road. A possible owner was contacted. A deputy responded and was unable to locate the cows. 8:15 a.m. A caller reported a cow was loose and on East Valley Road. A deputy responded and was unable to locate the cow. 10:21 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was having trouble breathing. 11:30 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Rosedale resident. 5:53 p.m. A caller reported a possibly impaired driver heading east on SR 4 on KM. State patrol reported that two vehicles, last seen in Skamokawa, were unable to maintain speed or lane. A deputy followed both vehicles in the Cathlamet area and saw no signs of impairment. 6:06 p.m. A caller reported ice on SR 4 and Elochoman Valley Road. A deputy responded and found no evidence of ice. The county road department said that the area was sprayed the night before and that they would check the area to see if it needed to be sprayed again. 7:11 p.m. A stray dog was found at a Rosedale business. A deputy was able to locate the owners. 7:53 p.m. A caller said that her children had driven her car to their father’s Puget Island home for visitation and that they were now in the car, trying to leave, but he had blocked them in. She said that their father had threatened her, stating that the sheriff’s office would give him special treatment and get her in trouble. He said visitation was supposed to end at 9 p.m., and that if she attempted to take the children, he wouldn’t let her take her car and would have it towed. The mother called again at 8:10 p.m. and said the situation hadn’t changed, but the children were not as scared. Dispatch told her that a deputy was at the scene. The deputy said that the younger of the two had to stay because of a parental agreement, but the older child could leave any time she wanted. After further investigation, it was determined that the juveniles had an issue with the parenting plan. A deputy advised all parties. 9:20 p.m. A caller reported that his sailboat had run aground in the Skamokawa area. He and two other passengers were on board; there were no injuries. The U.S. Coast Guard was notified. The boat owner said he wanted to stay with the boat and see if he could get loose with the high tide. At 3:05 a.m., he notified the sheriff’s office that he had made it to the marina in Cathlamet. 10:27 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance provided a lift assist to a Puget Island resident who was stuck in his chair. 10:49 p.m. A Cathlamet resident asked for help turning off his phone.

December 4 — 12:33 p.m. A caller reported a domestic disturbance at an Elochoman Valley home. 6:33 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that he had received a threatening note from his landlord. 7:09 p.m. A caller reported a skateboarder heading east on SR 4 near County Line Park. 7:39 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 7:52 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident said his neighbor had knocked on his door and said that a neighbor was shooting at her. He said he had not witnessed anything like that even though she had been saying that for months. 11:48 p.m. The District 4 Fire Department responded when a chimney fire spread to the attic of an Elochoman Valley home. The Skamokawa Fire Department, the PUD, and the Cathlamet ambulance also responded. A fire investigator was requested. The Red Cross was contacted to help a person who had been displaced.

December 5 — 3:02 a.m. A caller reported hearing gunshots in the Rosedale area. 3:44 A caller reported hearing a gunshot in the Rosedale area. 10:35 a.m. A caller reported that her ex-husband had repeatedly withheld one of their children from her in violation of their parenting plan. The caller was advised that it was a civil matter that needed to be handled in court. 10:52 a.m. A caller reported a power outage at a Cathlamet address. The PUD was notified. 2:08 p.m. A caller said that a westbound driver seemed to be struggling to maintain control of a trailer he was pulling. A deputy followed the driver and did not witness any problems. 4:25 p.m. A caller reported that vehicles were parked in the middle of a Skamokawa Road. 4:44 p.m. Someone accidentally dialed 911. 7:16 p.m. An individual was at a Rosedale business looking for a homeless shelter. A deputy responded. The person found a friend to stay with overnight. 8:53 p.m. A caller reported that a dozen vehicles were headed to the rock pit at Bradley Trails for a party, and that one truck had a bright light bar, and played loud music. He said that they came every week, and he called every week, but nothing was ever done about it. He said that the noise disturbed a family member who was at home in hospice care. A second caller reported that 27 vehicles were headed to the rock pit. A third caller reported that 25 cars had driven by. A deputy responded and made contact with the large group, informing them of the rules for Bradley Trails. He told them they were trespassing and took photos of their IDs, taking names for future contact. Their names were entered in the system for trespassing.
