On Monday, Wahkiakum Health and Human Services learned that two more Wahkiakum County residents had tested positive for covid-19, bringing the total number of cases to 64. The health center is considering 12 of those cases to be potentially active, according to the press release.

The individuals are in self-quarantine and WHHS is working with them to determine who may have an exposure risk. The health department will notify people who have come in close contact.

There is a connection to Wahkiakum School District and for the first time, to St. James Family Center. Because of close cooperation with the health department, as well as the significant protective measures already in place, the school district and St. James will remain open.

There is active community spread, according to WHHS, and the risk of contracting covid-19 in Washington is increasing dramatically. They are urging people to practice safety measures such as social distancing, staying at home, wearing a mask if you have to socialize, and restricting activities to household members only.
