LCC online winter lecture series offered

Lower Columbia College (LCC) has announced the line-up for the Winter 2021 Community Conversations lecture series. LCC's free, online, weekly lecture series focuses on a different theme each quarter. This quarter's theme is "Get the Message."

Lectures are held on Thursdays from noon to 12:50 p.m., via Zoom. Links to all sessions can be found on LCC's website at lowercolumbia.edu/conversations. Participants can log in up to 10 minutes before each session. All lectures are free and open to the public. No tickets or reservations are needed. Students may receive credit for the series by enrolling in Humanities 106 (Community Conversations).​ Dates, presenters and topics for upcoming lectures include:

· January 14: “Fundamentals for Successful Communication” Presented by Stefanie Gilberti.

· January 21: “Alexa, is that you?” Presented by David Rosi.

· January 28: “Tell it Slant: Getting the News from Poetry” Presented by Abbie Leavens.


· February 4: "The Puritans and MeToo: Gossip, Scandal, and the Memory of Early America" Presented by Melissa Johnson.

· February 11: "Cultural Hegemony and Manufacturing Consent" Presented by Trey Batey.

· February 18: “Theater for Social Justice​” Presented by Betsy Richard.

· February 25: “Virtual Telephone: Truth and Rumors at our Fingertips” Presented by Lindsay Keevy and Ian King.

· March 4: “That is Science: Communication and Miscommunication of Science Ideas” Presented by Adam Wolfer.
