County's covid count reaches 100

February 25, 2021

On Tuesday, Wahkiakum Health and Human Resources confirmed that one person had tested positive for covid-19. This brings the cumulative total of covid-19 cases in the county to 100, with 19 considered potentially active.

The individual is in self-quarantine. There is a connection to Wahkiakum School District, but no known connection to St. James Family Center.

Because of the close cooperation between the health department and the school district, as well as the significant protective measures in place, the school district will remain open.

WHHS is working to identify people who may have an exposure risk and will be notifying anyone who is determined to have had close contact.

There is active community spread in Wahkiakum County, and the risk of contracting covid-19 in Washington is increasing dramatically. The health department is urging people to practice safety measures such as social distancing, staying at home, wearing a mask if you have to socialize, and restricting activities to household members only.
