Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

March 14 — 7:17 p.m. Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a Cathlamet home and took an individual into custody after a caller reported that she had been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend. 8:29 p.m. A caller reported that two people in a Cathlamet apartment were yelling and physically fighting. Deputies responded.

March 15 — 1:25 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale address. The owner was contacted. A deputy responded and found everything secure. 7:33 a.m. A caller reported that the power had gone out after a single vehicle accident on a Puget Island road. There were no injuries reported. A deputy and the PUD responded. 1:53 p.m. A caller requested a civil standby at a Cathlamet home. 4:36 p.m. A Cathlamet resident discovered that his fence had been damaged sometime in the last year, possibly the fault of a local contractor. A deputy advised the caller that it was a civil matter.

March 16 — 8:37 a.m. A Puget Island resident suffered a broken leg after a horse knocked her down and stepped on her leg. The Cathlamet ambulance responded. 9:25 a.m. A caller said that two dogs had been tied up and left in a grassy area near Wright's Hardware in Cathlamet for over an hour. The caller said they were the same dogs that had tried to bite people when they were left by the grocery store. 10:25 a.m. A caller reported that two people in a white car were trespassing on an Elochoman Valley property. It turned out to be employees from the county assessor’s office. 2:17 p.m. A caller suspected that a man and a woman who were walking their dog on West Little Island Road were casing the area. A deputy responded and could not find the dog walkers. 5:28 p.m. A caller asked the sheriff’s department to speak to the owner of ducks and geese that were causing traffic problems on a Puget Island road. 9:29 p.m. A caller accidentally dialed 911.

March 17 — 2:27 a.m. Dispatch in Astoria received a 911 call from the Cathlamet area, but no one was on the line. They notified the sheriff’s office and dispatch contacted the individual. She sounded upset but would not provide her location or any other information. She said she was okay. After speaking with a deputy, dispatch called again and left a message for the individual to let her know she could contact the sheriff’s office if she needed assistance. 10:25 a.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had been parked in front of a fire hydrant on Main Street in Cathlamet for over an hour. A deputy contacted the owner and it was moved. 10:43 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that a dog crate containing a goose had been dropped off at his home. He said he could not keep the goose because of his dogs. Deputies responded and were able to relocate the goose. 10:50 a.m. A caller reported that a semi was disabled and blocking the eastbound lane of SR 4 in the Rosburg area. State patrol responded. 4:57 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver that was pulling in and out of driveways on Altoona/Pillar Rock Road. 8:52 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Skamokawa resident. A deputy responded and found no one home.

March 18 — 1:02 a.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle driving slowly around a Cathlamet neighborhood. 5:41 a.m. A caller reported that debris was covering the eastbound lane of SR 4 in the Skamokawa area. 9:47 a.m. A caller said that rods, reels, and a GPS had been stolen from a boat docked in the Elochoman Slough Marina. 10:41 a.m. A Rosburg resident said that a family member had come to the home and was bothering her. The individual would not leave. The caller hung up, and did not answer on call back. A deputy said the subject had left the property by the time he arrived. 4:42 p.m. A caller said that someone who would not identify himself had been calling her place of work to ask if she was there. She believed it may be her ex-husband who had cut off his GPS monitoring bracelet nine days earlier. 5:07 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a Cathlamet resident who may have threatened to harm himself. 5:27 p.m. A welfare check was requested for an individual at an Elochoman Valley home after a possible domestic disturbance. A deputy made contact; the individual said there had been no argument and that she had not been injured.

March 19 — 12:13 a.m. A deputy and a representative from the mental health department responded to a Rosedale home after an individual threatened to harm herself. She was taken voluntarily to the hospital. 2:09 a.m. A caller said there was a suspicious person loitering outside a Rosedale business. A deputy responded. 10:29 a.m. The sheriff’s office received a referral from Adult Protective Services for a resident in Skamokawa who may be neglecting himself. 12:43 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that a Fed Ex driver had rung his doorbell and left before he could get to the door. The Fed Ex driver did not leave a package. The caller said he had contacted Fed Ex but they said they had no way to track or contact the driver. He called back later to say he had located the package. 2:09 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a child and adult who had fallen at a Cathlamet home. 3:41 p.m. A caller reported a domestic disturbance at a Rosburg home. A deputy responded. 7:45 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a business on Main Street to aid a man who was having difficulty breathing. He refused transport to the hospital. 7:52 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a football player at the high school who may have broken a leg. 7:56 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an individual at the high school with a neck injury. 8:41 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an individual at the high school with a possible concussion.

March 20 — 8:22 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Alger Creek resident who may have had a stroke. 9:24 a.m. A caller said that her ex-husband, who owed her a lot of money, had fraudulently transferred $2,000 from his current girlfriend’s bank account to her bank account. The caller wanted to return the money to the other woman and had taken the money out of her account to give to her former in-laws for safekeeping. She said the girlfriend then canceled the unauthorized transaction, which caused her own account to be short $2,000. She had since learned that her husband had collected the $2,000 she had left with her former in-laws and had used it for drugs and gambling with his girlfriend. She was advised to report the matter to authorities in Longview. 10:37 a.m. A deputy responded after a driver went over the embankment on a Skamokawa Road. There were no injuries reported. 12:16 p.m. The marina reported that they had received counterfeit bills. A deputy responded and determined the bills were legal tender, but the marina’s pen to detect counterfeit bills was malfunctioning. 1:19 p.m. A caller reported hearing shots fired behind her Grays River home. 8:46 p.m. A caller reported that a Rosburg resident was missing. The person had left a note about rescuing a starving cat in her trailer. She had not been seen for more than 24 hours. Deputies tried to make contact and the individual was finally found at her trailer at 10:35 p.m.

March 21 — 6:38 a.m. A Puget Island resident complained about bow hunters who had been visiting the area daily between 5-8 p.m. When she asked what they were hunting, they “shushed” her. 11:16 p.m. An individual living in Rosburg reported a trespasser. A deputy responded and spoke to the alleged trespasser, who said he had visited the main residence on behalf of the owner. He said the caller should have recognized him. The caller said she did know him but did not recognize him. It was determined that the caller had no authority to trespass anyone from the main property.
