Senior Amaya Jones got a piece of the ball, but it flies foul.

"Breyonna Montgomery was pitching in the strike zone all day, but MWP batters were making good contact," Coach Garrett Miller said.

Montgomery struck out three.

Miller praised Shantelle Shervey for great defense in centerfield, which he said was highlighted by an "amazing catch at full speed."

Shervey was 2-2 at the plate, with two RBIs. Amaya Jones was 1-2 with one RBI and one run scored.

"All in all it was a great game, a lot closer than the score suggested," Miller said. "The girls were just excited to get out there and play especially after the covid shutdown ended their season before the first game last year."

The Lady Mules face Adna at home next Monday at 4 p.m.
