Alvin Moss

 


Alvin Arnold Moss, 86, of Vancouver, WA died on March 20th in Vancouver.

Al was born on June 15, 1934 in Watertown, South Dakota. His family moved to Wahkiakum County in 1943 and he graduated from Wahkiakum High School in 1952. He entered the Air Force after graduation and spent four years and four additonal years as a reservist. He was discharged in 1960.

On August 20,1955 he married Helen Webb at the United Methodist Church in Skamokawa,WA. He and Helen resided in the Renton - Kent area during his 35 year career at Boeing. Al was a computer programmer at Boeing until his retirement in 1993. After retirement he enjoyed golfing, reading and time with his family.

In 1998 he and Helen moved to Vancouver. They enjoyed winters in Casa Grande, Arizona for 23 years where they loved socializing with friends. While they were in Arizona they attended Fiesta Grande Church. His affinity for the ocean and sincere appreciation of nature were a gift he shared with his family. His family was his top priority. Especially, his bride whom he unconditionally cared for until taking his final breath.


He is survived by his wife Helen; a daughter, Jennifer Moss; a daughter-in-law, Penny Moss; a brother, Melvin Moss; three sisters, Betty Johnson, Deloris Moss and Sharon Kersting; two grandchildren Angela and Jason Moss; two great grandchildren Lucas and Ryan Moss and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Moss in 2019 and two brothers Raymond and Eddie Moss.

A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery on Sunday April 18th at 2 p.m. Dowling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family prefers a Memorial Donation in his name to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
