Napavine, Kalama earn wins versus Mules

Shortstop Brody Carlson makes a catch in the Mules 6-0 loss to Kalama.

The Wahkiakum Mule baseball team suffered losses to two tough Central League opponents this past week.

On Monday, the Mules lost 6-0 to Kalama.

" We had an excellent approach at the plate versus a top notch Division 1 commit to Oregon," commented Coach Marc Niemeyer. "We also played very well defensively. Super proud of our efforts!"

Getting hits for the Mules were Dominic Curl, Tristan Collupy and Ashden Niemeyer.

On the mound, Brody Carlson struck out two batters and gave up six hits; Tanner Collupy struck out three and allowed three hits, and Jake Leitz stuck out one and gave up one hit.

On April 8, the Mules traveled to Napavine and lost 7-3 to the Tigers. The Mules led 2-0 going into the bottom of the fourth inning when the Tigers scored six runs to take the lead.

Niemeyer hit a triple, and Tristan Collupy, Chance Cothren and Brody Carlson all had hits.


The Mules traveled to Winlock yesterday (Wednesday); they head to Toutle for a 12 noon game on Saturday; they host Stevenson Monday, 4 p.m., and close the season at home Thursday versus Onalaska, 4 p.m.
