Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

May 9 — 6:43 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident who had fallen and was confused. 3:02 p.m. A caller said that a former girlfriend was trying to contact him even though she had a restraining order against him. A deputy spoke with both parties. 5:45 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle that had broken down on SR 4 in the Deep River area had caught fire. He said the fire was out. State patrol was notified. 8:33 p.m. A welfare check was requested for an individual believed to be traveling in the Elochoman Valley area.

May 10 — 7:35 a.m. A caller reported that a person had driven past his Puget Island home, violating a restraining order. 6:20 p.m. A caller reported a theft in progress at a Skamokawa home. 6:25 p.m. A caller reported that a chainsaw had been stolen. Deputies responded. The item was recovered and returned to the owner. 9:02 p.m. A caller reported that a suspicious male, running in flip flops along SR 4 in the Skamokawa area, had gone into the woods. A deputy responded but was unable to locate the individual. 10:31 p.m. A caller reported that family members were being harassed on social media. 11:29 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident with a blood pressure issue.

May 11 — 10:39 a.m. A caller reported that a child may have been sexually assaulted. 3:52 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident asked for assistance with a child who had a problem with stealing. 5:18 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a Puget Island resident after a caller dialed 911 and hung up. 6:09 p.m. A caller was concerned about people who were camping too close to the Columbia River near Skamokawa. A deputy responded. He could see them, but could not get to their location. 6:50 p.m. A caller had lost her phone and was worried that her sons would request a welfare check if they could not contact her. 8:11 p.m. A Skamokawa resident said she was being harassed on Facebook about an incident that happened the night before. 11:26 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver. He had seen the individual vomit before getting into his truck which had been parked on Main Street in Cathlamet.

May 12 — 9:01 a.m. A caller said he would be repossessing a vehicle from a Beaver Creek address. Deputies spoke with the individual and determined that it was a civil issue after learning that he had entered into a verbal agreement with a family member to purchase the truck, and the other person involved had stopped making payments. They advised the caller that there was a court process and that the sheriff’s department would not get involved if he did not follow proper procedures. He called at 12:43 p.m. to say he had the vehicle at his home. 9:10 a.m. The sheriff’s office was asked to be on the lookout for an individual who had talked about suicide. 9:18 a.m. A caller from another agency asked a deputy to meet him at the elementary school in Cathlamet. 10 a.m. A civil standby was requested at a Cathlamet home. 10:18 a.m. A deputy spoke with an individual who was getting a protection order. 12:39 p.m. A caller accidentally dialed 911. 1:39 p.m. A caller reported that a dog was tied to a guard rail along SR 4 near County Line Park. 5:08 p.m. A welfare check was requested for an Alger Creek resident. Deputies responded. 5:35 pm. A Cathlamet resident complained about neighbors flying a drone. She also said they were letting a child ride a motorcycle. A deputy responded and a warning was given regarding a lack of helmet. 5:44 p.m. A caller said she needed to get behind a locked gate in the Alger Creek area to see property that had been damaged two years earlier in a fire. She was advised to contact a timber company for a key. 6:20 p.m. A caller was concerned that a Rosedale resident was possibly being abused by caregivers. 7:53 p.m. A caller at Vista Park reported having trouble with an individual who was not obeying park rules, was stealing wood from the beach, and was otherwise causing trouble. A deputy responded but could not locate the individual. 8:01 p.m. A caller reported speeding motorcycles on West Birnie Slough Road. 8:12 p.m. A caller reported that someone was speeding on a motorcycle on Ostervold Road. 8:17 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an individual who had fallen at the softball field by the high school in Cathlamet. 8:47 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle that had blown a tire was on the fog line on a corner of SR 4 in the Cathlamet area. Someone with a spare tire was en route from Longview.

May 13 — 11:04 a.m. A representative from Child Protective Services asked a deputy to meet him at an Elochoman Valley home. 11:56 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident who had fallen. 4:35 p.m. A Rosedale resident asked to have an individual trespassed. It was determined that the caller did not have the authority to trespass the person. 5:44 p.m. A caller reported a sick cat on Broadway Street. The Wahkiakum Animal Advocates Group was contacted. 8:49 p.m. A Puget Island resident said that someone kept leaving dead animals in front of her house. 11:24 p.m. A power outage was reported in the Elochoman Valley and Beaver Creek areas after a driver struck a pole. The driver was seen leaving the scene on foot. Deputies, the District 4 Fire Department, and the Cathlamet ambulance responded. The road was closed until the PUD arrived and was able to restore power. A tow was called for the vehicle involved in the accident. The PUD later determined there were more issues and had to turn the power off again, but the problem was resolved at 5:41 a.m. The sheriff’s department made contact with the driver the following day.

May 14 — 8:25 a.m. A Beaver Creek resident reported a stolen vehicle. 8:38 a.m. The sheriff’s department received three referrals from Adult Protective Services regarding a resident at a Rosedale home. Deputies spoke with the individual and a case worker. 11:37 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had a seizure. The individual refused transport to the hospital. 1:43 p.m. A Skamokawa resident wondered if a restraining order had been served, and reported that someone may have violated it. 1:58 p.m. A caller reported suspicious activity on Elochoman Valley Road after witnessing two men in a black truck and a woman who seemed to be trying to get away from them. 3:24 p.m. A caller asked for assistance when he could not get someone to leave his residence in Cathlamet. 5:45 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident who had fallen. The resident refused transport to the hospital. 7:34 p.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Cathlamet address after a caller said he saw smoke. The caller called back to say something had been found on the stove. 8:50 p.m. A Deep River resident reported that a suspicious man had paddled up to his dock and asked the homeowner to use his truck to take out his canoe. The resident later asked to trespass the man. 9:31 p.m. A caller reported that a person was slumped over in his car, which was parked on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. A deputy responded but was unable to locate the individual, and the Cathlamet ambulance was told to stand down. 10:30 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had a nose bleed that would not stop. Transport to the hospital was refused. 11:06 p.m. A driver accidentally hit his OnStar button, setting off an alarm.

May 15 — 1:10 a.m. A caller said he had lost his drone and he would be looking for it and according to GPS coordinates, it was in a field near the church on Messinger Hill. 5:54 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale home. Dispatch attempted to contact the owner, who called back at 7:24 a.m. 2:17 p.m. Two adults and three children were stuck in a boat in the Columbia River near Wauna after their motor quit. The US Coast Guard was notified and en route. 4:46 p.m. A caller found a bag of garbage that had been left on a logging road in the Skamokawa area. 5:08 p.m. A caller said he had been struck by a vehicle in a Skamokawa parking lot and that the driver had left the scene. 8:46 p.m. A caller said he had been assaulted. An individual was taken into custody. 11:58 p.m. A caller said that a vehicle had passed on a corner and almost caused an accident on SR 4 just east of Cathlamet.
