Availability and public comment for 2022 Unified Planning Work Program

The Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Council of Governments (CWCOG), as the Longview-Kelso-Rainier Metropolitan Planning Organization and lead agency for the Southwest Washington Regional Transportation Planning Organization, invites the public to comment on the draft 2022 Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP).

The UPWP is a regional transportation planning work program describing how state and federal funds will be used by the CWCOG in the next fiscal year (July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022). The work program is developed by CWCOG staff in cooperation with cities, counties, ports, transit agencies, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) to meet federal and state requirements. It is reviewed by the Federal Highway Administration, Federal Transit Administration, WSDOT, and ODOT before being presented to the CWCOG Board of Directors for adoption. The CWCOG Board of Directors is scheduled to consider the 2022 UPWP for adoption on May 27, 2021.

In the draft 2022 UPWP Task 2.12, Regional Mobility Management, is included based on potential funding from the Washington State Legislature. Should funding not be allocated for Task 2.12 then the CWCOG Board of Directors will consider adoption of the 2022 UPWP as amended to remove Task 2.12 and any related information.

The Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Council of Governments is a multi-purpose association of governments that delivers a diverse array of federal, state and local programs while fulfilling its primary function as a regional planning organization.
