Update: Six more test positive for covid-19; total rises to 155

 


On Friday morning, Wahkiakum Health and Human Services reported that two more cases of covid-19 have been confirmed in the county with at least one known connection to Wahkiakum School District. In a second press release on Friday afternoon, WHHS reported that there were four more cases, with no connection to either WSD or St. James Family Center. This brings the cumulative total to 155 with 37 considered potentially active.

The individuals are in self quarantine.

WHHS is working to identify people who may have an exposure risk and will be notifying anyone who is determined to have had close contact.

Vaccines are available to anyone 12 and older in Wahkiakum County, and WHHS is encouraging anyone who has not already been vaccinated to contact the health department at 360-849-4041, or call their personal medical provider to get scheduled for a vaccine.

There is active community spread in Wahkiakum County. The health department is urging people to practice safety measures such as social distancing, staying at home, wearing a mask if you have to socialize, and restricting activities to household members only.
