Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

August 1 - 1:01 p.m. A juvenile said she was being sexually abused by a family member and that she wanted to harm herself. The sheriff's office was not able to determine the youth's location, but forwarded the complaint to authorities in Cowlitz County, where they believed she might be based on something she said. 3:08 p.m. The driver of a motor home was given permission to leave his vehicle on the hill by Redmen Hall after a tire blew. 5:40 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen and injured a knee. 6:04 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle parked at a dump site on Deep River Road. 8:45 p.m. Someone who was trying to contact the resident of a home on East Valley Road said she had called repeatedly, but the line was busy. She asked if someone would go to the house and let them know she was trying to call. She called back at 8:49 p.m. to say she had been able to contact the person. 9:50 p.m. A caller said that two cars were in the County Line Park parking lot after hours. At 9:58 p.m., the caller reported that the vehicles had left.

August 2 - 1:36 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that a dog had been barking non stop for the last half hour. The caller asked to speak to a deputy. 8:38 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that the neighbor's dogs had been barking for over an hour. Dispatch could hear the dogs barking in the background. A second caller complained about the dogs. A deputy drove past the residence at 9:05 a.m. and reported that there were no dogs outside. 9:05 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident who had some internal bleeding and an upset stomach. 4:06 p.m. A caller reported that a westbound vehicle was speeding and passing in no passing zones. 7:13 p.m. A Cathlamet resident was concerned that a family member was having a mental health issue. A representative from the mental health department was sent to the home. 11:55 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance and the Skamokawa Fire Department aided a Skamokawa resident who was having trouble breathing.

August 3 - 8:44 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident who had fallen. 12:27 p.m. An alarm was activated at an east county home. 3:05 p.m. A caller reported an intoxicated person on Main Street. 3:59 p.m. A caller reported possible abuse after seeing bruises on an Elochoman Valley resident. 4:23 p.m. A resident in the Nassa Point area complained that the contractors from the Washington Department of Transportation were tearing up her property and parking in her lot without permission. She was given the number to state patrol. 6:10 p.m. A caller expressed concerns about a family matter. 7:27 p.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Rosedale resident. 9:12 p.m. A truck struck a deer on SR 4 in the Cathlamet area. A deputy euthanized the deer.

August 4 - 10:49 a.m. A caller witnessed a driver flicking cigarette ashes out of his window while traveling on SR 4. 3:24 p.m. A caller reported that a parent was using drugs and neglecting her children. 5:32 p.m. A caller was concerned that a flagger working on the project on SR 4 might cause a wreck because he appeared to be "on something." 7:33 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Cathlamet resident who had not been seen at his storage unit for several weeks and had not paid his bill, which was unlike him. A deputy spoke with the subject; he was well. 7:57 p.m. The new owner of a Puget Island property said he was having junk vehicles removed from his property, and that someone who did not have proof of ownership was now claiming that one of the vehicles belonged to him. He was threatening to harm anyone who took the vehicle. A deputy advised the caller. 10:30 p.m. The sheriff's department was notified by WSDOT that a pilot car and flagger would be working from Rosedale to Nassa Point beginning at 8 p.m.

August 5 - 7:22 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that a man was going through a mailbox. 8:16 a.m. The PUD said they had planned a water outage on Covered Bridge Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 9:57 a.m. The sheriff's department received a referral from Child Protective Services for a Puget Island home. 11:45 a.m. A shoplifter was caught on security cameras at a Cathlamet business. 11:48 a.m. A caller said a vehicle had broken down on a Cathlamet street and a tow had been called. 1:20 p.m. A tugboat lost control of a barge on the Columbia River near County Line Park. The U.S. Coast Guard was notified. 3:35 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a person in Cathlamet who had fallen. 3:57 p.m. A Cathlamet resident requested contact with a deputy regarding a child custody issue. 4:02 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that several items had been stolen from his property. 4:14 p.m. A caller requested deputy assistance for a child custody issue. 4:30 p.m. A caller reported possible child abuse. 11:38 p.m. A caller said that a water main on Puget Island may have broken after finding flooding in their basement and standing water in their yard. The PUD was notified.

August 6 - 12:20 a.m. A caller reported that two women were fighting in a yurt at the marina. Two deputies responded. One of the women decided to leave and the other agreed to contact the health department in the morning in order to get a ride to Longview where more social services were available to her. 5:39 a.m. A caller reported that a tree was down on Altoona/Pillar Rock Road. The county road department was notified and the tree was removed. 8:40 a.m. A caller reported he had to swerve to miss a car parked over the fog line on Beaver Creek Road. 9:13 a.m. A caller said that a woman in one of the yurts at the marina was combative and argumentative. She may have caused damage and was refusing to open the door for management. The sheriff's department requested a representative from the mental health department, who responded and was able to find shelter for the individual in Longview. The woman claimed the door was already damaged when she arrived. 11:10 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that his solar lights had been pulled from the ground and scattered around his lawn. He suspected it had been done by juveniles who lived nearby. 12:01 p.m. A caller on Puget Island said that an exposed breaker was popping and smelled of burning plastic. He said that his landlord would not turn it off, and the fumes were making him feel ill. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded. 12:41 p.m. A caller reported that a rock the size of a volleyball was sitting in the westbound lane of SR 4 in the Little Cape Horn area. 3:54 p.m. A caller said that someone had attempted to break into the mailboxes at Eagle Village. 3:56 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident with abdominal pain. 5:13 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check for three children in a Puget Island home. 6:39 p.m. A caller said that someone was stealing gravel in Skamokawa. A deputy responded and spoke with the subject. He said it was his rock. 7:08 p.m. A caller reported that a woman parked in a vehicle on Columbia Street in the Rosedale area was distraught and incoherent. 7:19 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that someone had been firing a weapon for the last half hour. 8:07 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident who had lower back pain and was unable to walk. 8:43 p.m. A caller reported that someone in Skamokawa was burning something and that it didn't smell like wood. The District 4 Fire Department responded and determined that the fire was in an approved fire pit.

August 7 - 9:17 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 4:14 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a child in Rosburg who had fallen off a deck and had a gash on her back. 5:56 p.m. A caller reported that there were a couple hay bales on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. 8:13 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had fallen. 8:59 p.m. A caller reported a loud party in Cathlamet. 9:36 p.m. A caller reported that an erratic driver had turned onto Elochoman Valley Road. 9:53 p.m. A caller said a dog had been struck on Elochoman Valley Road. 11:11 p.m. A caller said someone was setting off fireworks in Grays River. A deputy responded. The homeowner said that one firework had been set off before he put a stop to it. 11:37 p.m. A Cathlamet resident said that her roommate had threatened to strangle her. The call was transferred to the mental health department.

August 8 - 9:14 a.m. A caller said he had struck a deer on a road east of Cathlamet.
