Hard to believe that summer is gone. Now is time to prep the garden for fall and winter. In spite of some strange weather early in the season and the long dry spell, the Community Garden has never looked so good. Dedicated volunteers have helped with the weeding, watering and harvesting of the veggies, herbs, and fruit sent off to the local food banks.

It is always distressful when after all the hard work, vandals are destructive. We have had some plants dug up and taken. This is very disappointing as we are happy to share when people ask. There is no need to sneak in and steal items. We donate all the produce from our raised bed section and the squash patch to the local food banks. They dispense it to the public free. Hundreds of pounds of produce have been donated. Irresponsible taking from the garden is in essence taking from the mouths of those in need.

The public is always welcome to visit the garden and talk to the gardeners but please be respectful. In spring we have a plant sale when many of our plants can be purchased very reasonably, usually for whatever you feel you would like to donate. Those donations go towards the purchase of soil, fertilizer, and seed so the garden can continue to provide a service to the community.

Come visit your garden!
