Lady Mules' volleyball split two matches

The Wahkiakum Lady Mules volleyball team split games this week bringing their overall record to 5-8.

On Thursday, the team hosted Rainier and won the match in four sets, 25-8, 26-24, 25-17, and 25-17.

"Rainier has some scrappy defense so we had to outlast to put the ball away," Coach Kayli Hurley said.

Megan Leitz had 12 kills, five digs, and two blocks. Bailey McKinley added four kills and had "strong net play," Hurley said. Miya Kerstetter had 11 digs. Setter Courtney Carlson had 26 assists and 12 kills. Libero Reigha Niemeyer had 12 digs and Amirah Abdul-Kariem had six digs.

Leitz, Kerstetter, Carlson, and Abdul-Kariem were 100 percent from the service line.

On Tuesday, the team hosted Kalama and lost in three sets, 25-19, 25-6, and 25-16.

Leitz had six kills, Carlson had four kills, and Niemeyer had nine digs.

"Emmie Niemela had some solid play at the net," Coach Hurley said.

Next Monday, the Lady Mules travel to Toutle Lake, and their final home game of the regular season is on Wednesday, when they host Toledo.
