WHS students host festival, tackle other projects

November 11, 2021

This month the CTE program and FFA chapter have been involved in various activities. One of these activities included volunteering and helping with the harvest festival for Wahkiakum grade school students. The CTE program and FFA chapter want to give a big thanks to Robin Westfall for coordinating the event in which they were able to make fresh apple cider, get the kids involved in a tic-tac-toe board using pumpkins, and a small but fun obstacle course made of hay bales.

As FFA chapter and field-to-fork members have been progressively learning the different cuts of meat through hands-on experience. Students were able to cut up, prepare, and package the meat, completing the entire butchering process. This is a great way for the FFA chapter to make some money through donations with each animal processed.

In fisheries class, students made and presented their own small books, "The Life Cycle of a Salmon" to future FFA members.

Last, the 2021-2022 Cathlamet FFA chapter officers have been elected: President Emerald Niemela; Vice-President Landon Luce; Treasurer Courtney Carlson; Secretary Maddi Thorsen;

Sentinel Hank Bassi / Dominic Curl, and Reporter Lily Hale.
