Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
The Naselle Comet football team traveled across the state to Pomeroy last weekend and came home with a 72-42 victory. They advance to the state Class 1B semifinals. The 9-1 Comets will head to Moses Lake this Saturday for a 1 p.m. game against 10-0 Almira-Coulee-Hartline.
In the other semifinal, 9-1 Odessa takes on 9-1 Quilcene, 4 p.m., also in Moses Lake. The winners will advance to the state championship Dec. 4, 12 noon, at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.
Central League teams in 2B semifinals
The Class 2B state football semifinals are almost a Central League affair. The league's 11-0 Napavine Tigers take on central Washington's 11-0 Okanogan team Saturday, 1 p.m., at Tumwater. The other semifinal pits two Central League teams, 9-0 Kalama and 6-5 Onalaska, 1 p.m., at Centralia. Kalama beat Onalaska 58-6 when they met in league play.
The winners advance to the state championship game, 4 p.m. on Dec. 4 at Harry E. Long Stadium in Lakewood.
