The Naselle Comets are in Spokane this week for the State 1B basketball tournament after both the boys and girls teams won regional games at Mark Morris on Saturday.

The 14-8 Naselle boys eked out a win in overtime against Neah Bay, 65-59 on Saturday. They faced 16-3 Northwest Yeshiva on Wednesday at the state tournament in Spokane in a loser out game at 9 a.m. If they won, they will take on 19-3 Willapa Valley at 9 a.m. on Thursday (today), a possible grudge match for the Comets, who lost to Willapa Valley, 67-40, in the district title game.

The 14-9 Naselle girls beat Evergreen Lutheran easily, 48-19 on Saturday, and faced 11-7 Wellpinit in a loser out game at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the state tournament in Spokane. If they won, they will take on 20-3 Mount Vernon Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday (today).
