Registration underway for White-tail run

Early registration is nearly over for the annual Great White Tail Run on May 14 in Skamokawa.

The registration deadline for a combination race/T-shirt ends May 2. Day of the race registration starts at 8:30 a.m., and the races start at 10 a.m. Awards will be presented after the race ends at 12 noon.

Events include 10K, 5K and 2-mile runs. There will be recognition given for overall male and female winners in each event with ribbons for top three finishers in each age division.

This race is traditionally held in Skamokawa around The Julia Butler Hansen National Wildlife Refuge which is home to the Columbia Whitetail Deer.

This race is sponsored by Wahkiakum 4-H Leaders Council. The Washington State University 4-H Youth Development Program is a county-based program with educational support from the University. Youth age kindergarten through 19 years are involved in learning life skills through working in project areas with adult volunteer leaders. 4-H encourages responsibility, decision-making, record keeping, and teamwork. The event is a fundraiser for the Wahkiakum County based 4-H program and all proceeds will be used to benefit the county program.
