Wahkiakum 4-H has awarded Grace Hunt a scholarship in the amount of $1,500 to continue "making the best better" in our world. When asked what she learned from her time in 4-H Grace responded, "I am confidant, and I am not afraid to try new things. Over the years, I have internalized one of the 4-H mottos, 'Learn by Doing.' I learned to be a clear communicator, leader, teammate, sister, teacher, student all through active participation in 4-H." Grace has been a 4-H member for 10 years; active in multiple project areas over the years including horse, beef, sewing, creative arts, and fashion review. Grace was a vital youth voice during the summer of 2020 when Washington state was not allowed to hold in-person fairs. She created alternative virtual showmanship practices that guided Wahkiakum 4-H Leaders Council and Wahkiakum County Fair in hosting a virtual fair, one of few in the state. Grace is part of the National 4-H Council's Tech Changemakers program, where she teaches new skills and helps bridge the technology and access gap across our rural community.
