The Wahkiakum County Eagle - Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891

When Cathlamet resident Terry Bonny passed recently passed away, he left behind a grieving community. He was a family man, friend, teacher, coach, artist, and he was a golfer! His neighbors, Connie and Joe Long, Matt and Carlotta Alpdemir, and Tom and Susan Gentry, wanted a way to honor Terry. They came up with the idea of replacing the bench on the 9th hole at the Skyline Golf Course. Manager Shannon Moore was on board with the plan and delivered a weather-worn bench to Long's workshop. Long ordered special wood, paint, stain and sealant and went to work. "The end result was a beautiful bench with a plaque honoring Terry," said Susan Gentry. "The bench sits at a beautiful overview of the river. It's the perfect place to enjoy the view and remember our dear friend and neighbor." Photos courtesy of Susan Gentry.
