Dog activities on Puget Island over the weekend

A variety of dog activities will take place at Misty Rivers Plantation, 117 Cross Dike Road on Puget Island this weekend. On Friday and Saturday the Willamette Valley Basenji Club will host their Annual Basenji Specialty Show. This is an AKC sanctioned show for Basenjis only which will include puppy sweepstakes and regular conformation showing on Friday, and conformation showing on Saturday.

On Saturday and Sunday the club will run Fast CAT events for all breeds and open to the public. This is the Coursing Aptitude Test that is a timed 100 yard dash. Dogs completing the run will receive a certificate showing their speed in MPH. Entry slots for Saturday are already sold out, but some are still available on Sunday. Consult the Willamette Valley Basenji Club website for schedules and entry information.

Also on Sunday, the Irish Wolfhound Club of Puget Sound will hold a fun match (non-AKC) for Irish wolfhounds only, followed by a business meeting and potluck. Although the show is for wolfhounds only, the public is invited as spectators, and there should be a large variety of wolfhounds of all ages to meet and pet.

Spectator parking for all events is out front along the driveway, and participant parking is on the event field in the back. Restrooms and limited handicapped parking are available in the back.
