Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

July 18 — 8:49 a.m. Two horses were seen running down East Sunny Sands Road. The owners were notified. 10:10 a.m. A caller reported an inappropriate conversation between herself and another person regarding her underage daughter. A deputy spoke with the woman and her daughter, but was unable to locate the subject at that time. 12 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported credit card fraud. 12:45 p.m. A caller asked to speak to a deputy about a custody dispute. 2:36 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident was advised by someone on a crisis line to contact the sheriff’s department about a juvenile who was threatening to hurt anyone who tried to help him. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded. 3:20 p.m. A welfare check was requested for two people in a Cathlamet home after someone was reported missing. A deputy went to two addresses but could not locate them. 3:35 p.m. A wallet was found. The owner was notified. 4:46 p.m. A caller reported a fire on Price Island. The Department of Natural Resources responded with a helicopter and fire engine. They determined it was an abandoned campfire, were not concerned, and decided to follow up the following day. At 6:30 p.m., DNR requested assistance from the sheriff’s office with a boat. Deputies responded and reported that passengers were on board at 7:04 p.m. 5:19 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who was described as weak and incoherent. 6:40 p.m. The Naselle ambulance aided a diabetic Rosburg resident with low blood sugar. At 7 p.m., the caller reported that her blood sugar was much higher. She refused transport to the hospital. 9:07 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported seeing three boys walking down the road before one of them came onto her property and jumped on her trampoline. The trio headed towards a nearby restaurant. Deputies were delayed because of an earlier call and were unable to locate the boys.

July 19 — 8:08 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident who was having trouble breathing. 9:18 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle that may have been stolen and dumped at County Line Park. It was determined that the vehicle was not stolen. 12:46 p.m. A bank employee reported that a customer was reporting fraudulent activity and asked for a deputy. 1:03 p.m. A caller reported a fire outside a Puget Island farm. The Puget Island Fire Department responded and the fire was out at 1:20 p.m. 3:44 p.m. The sheriff’s department was asked to pick up DNR personnel from Price Island. 3:57 p.m. A caller reported that a truck and trailer were parked in a dangerous spot on East Little Island Road without any kind of warning for other drivers. A deputy responded and the owner agreed to move the vehicle. 6 p.m. A caller reported that someone had broken into a bathroom in the Rosedale area. 7:22 p.m. A driver was arrested for driving under the influence. A tow was called.

July 20 — 8:15 a.m. A caller reported that a vehicle belonging to a construction company was traveling at high speeds on North Welcome Slough Road multiple times a day. 8:59 a.m. A medical emergency was reported at a Rosedale address. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded. 10:29 a.m. A caller asked for help in retrieving personal items from a car that had been repossessed. A deputy contacted the other party, who said they had been trying to return the items, but the complainant was refusing to meet him. A deputy informed the complainant that it was a civil matter. 10:52 a.m. A Rosedale business owner reported an unoccupied vehicle that had been sitting in the parking lot for several hours. 11:05 a.m. A man was seen urinating between two buildings on Main Street in Cathlamet. He was wearing a black t-shirt, ripped shorts, and white sunglasses were on the back of his head. 11:47 a.m. A caller asked to speak to a deputy about a person in Cathlamet who had passed away. 1:02 p.m. A caller reported that cattle were loose on SR 4 on the eastern base of KM. Dispatch attempted to contact the owner. 1:33 p.m. A vehicle that was believed to be involved in mailbox thefts was found broken down on Beaver Creek Road. 4 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident with a head injury that would not stop bleeding. 4:31 p.m. A caller reported that a Beaver Creek resident had found mail belonging to someone in another town in his mailbox. 4:31 p.m. A deputy reported that he was at the gun range. 4:48 p.m. A caller reported that there were cows on SR 4 west of Skamokawa. Dispatch attempted to contact the owner. 9:25 p.m. Two deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Cathlamet home after a caller reported that someone had fallen in the shower. She hadn’t been feeling well. The caller was unable to get to the person and was concerned she might be unconscious. Life Flight responded.

July 21 — 7:54 a.m. A welfare check was requested for someone living in a camper on a Puget Island road. 9:28 p.m. A caller reported a cow on SR 4 west of Skamokawa. A possible owner was contacted. 10:03 a.m. A caller reported that commercial vehicles were speeding on East Sunny Sands Road. 11:41 a.m. A caller reported harassment. 3:37 p.m. The sheriff’s department received a referral from Adult Protective Services for someone in a Cathlamet home. 3:37 p.m. A cell phone was found. 7:15 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had broken down a mile west of the Elochoman Bridge on SR 4. A tow had been called. 9:01 p.m. A domestic disturbance was reported at a Cathlamet home.

July 22 — 10:52 a.m. A caller reported that a three year old child had been left alone in an Elochoman Valley home. 3:33 p.m. A caller reported that someone on a dirt bike had been speeding up and down West Deep River Road all day. 8:32 p.m. A caller reported a teenager speeding up and down an Elochoman Valley road and doing wheelies on a dirt bike. 8:59 p.m. A caller reported that a pelican was walking around an area of Cathlamet and that it appeared to be missing feathers and was unafraid of people. 10:08 p.m. Two callers reported a cyclist without lights and wearing dark clothing heading west in the eastbound lane of SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. 10:40 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver after a motorist scraped the wooden rail on the Puget Island bridge and was driving into oncoming traffic. The driver was found and taken into custody. The vehicle was towed.

July 23 — 6:41 a.m. A caller reported that several cows were loose on East Valley Road. Dispatch attempted to contact the owner. 9:06 a.m. A caller reported that campers in the Elochoman Valley area had a fire going but may not have an approved fire pit. 5:57 p.m. A caller reported a kid riding a dirt bike recklessly on an Elochoman Valley Road. 8:15 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported missing dogs, possibly taken by a known person. At 8:49 p.m., a deputy spoke with the owner, who said she had gotten her dogs back. 10:17 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported a suspicious vehicle sitting in the road with the lights on for about 20 to 30 minutes.

July 24 — 6:27 a.m. A caller reported that sheep were loose on a Puget Island road. 1:33 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Deep River resident who had lost consciousness. At 1:59 p.m., the caller said the person was awake. 4:23 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious person dressed in black with his hood up walking back and forth on SR 4 in the Skamokawa area with a black vehicle parked nearby. Deputies responded and learned that the vehicle was being towed to a Skamokawa home. 5:13 p.m. A Cathlamet resident was concerned about a family member who had been given an unprescribed medication. 7:15 p.m. A caller asked for assistance after getting locked out of a vehicle. 9:53 p.m. A caller reported a speeding vehicle on East Little Island Road. 10:26 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious person and vehicle at a vacant Rosedale address. Deputies responded.
