Loggers reunion to be held October 1

The Annual Loggers Reunion event will be held October 1, beginning at 1 p.m., at The Appelo Archives Center, 1056 SR4 Naselle.

“Annual Loggers Reunion and BBQ, honoring those in the timber industry, is family fun and open to the public,” said Annika Kay, Director, at The Archives. It is an opportunity for families, community members, and visitors to share stories and is intended to celebrate the hard work of loggers, truck drivers, and operators of all ages. Come experience and explore the local logging history and culture of the Lower Columbia.

This is a fundraising event for the Logging Museum located at The Appelo Archives Center. All proceeds go towards preserving and maintaining the Logging Museum.

Festivities include hamburgers and hot dogs grilled on a giant outdoor BBQ, Beer Garden featuring North Jetty Brewing; and Loggers Lounge featuring Pilot House distillery.

Raffle items from the Loggers Restaurant and Camp 18; Live music provided by Carl Wirkkala; historical logging exhibits and displays; new exhibit on local logging inventor Oscar Wirkkala, and a wood carver on site.

Award Ceremony to include Logger of the Year, Memorial Logger of the Year, and Company of Honor. Nominations are still being accepted for award recipients. To submit nominations email your suggestion to: Info@AppeloArchives.org, or call 360-484-7103.
