Property taxes unfair and hard for everyone

To The Eagle:

Now that midterms are over, let’s talk about property tax.

“If someone moves in next to you and you’re currently assessed at $300,000 but they pay $500,000 for pretty much the same house, I’ve got to raise you up to that,” Bill Coons quote. How absurd.

“Home values are elevated everywhere. It doesn’t make much sense. It’s hard for people who are older and on a fixed income,” Laurie Williams quote. It’s hard on all people of all ages who worked hard to be able to live in their own home.

My brother-in-law, rest his soul, at one time thought he’d try for an assessor. He took the class but didn’t finish it. He overheard a group of people talking about what formula they can come up with to add more money into their pockets. He didn’t like what he heard and quit the class. What formula does the government use to assess our property?

This is another example of legislators as tax hungry thugs. Property tax has been around since civilization and mostly during that time, they tax on land not houses. Property tax was also created to finance wars. In case you forgot how the USA came to be, our forefathers came here from Britain to avoid their heavy taxes.

All the assessors need to assess is the size of the buildings and acreage of the property. What business is it of theirs what we do inside and outside our property? Did they pay and lay out the granite/marble countertops for us? Laminate/carpet floors? Fireplace/heat pump? Wood/metal sidings? Etc.

They’ve got no business doing real estate. It’s just another scheme to add more money into their pockets.

They are using our money for their pockets, are you going to comply with their procedures?
