Wahkiakum Mules Varsity Baseball Team show support for Autism fundraiser.

Parents, students, neighbors and friends came together last Saturday to raise Autism awareness and generate funds for a Sensory Room at J.A. Wendt Elementary for children with special needs. In just a little over four hours, the volunteers raised $532 selling baked goods and concessions.

The afternoon started with a show of support from the Wahkiakum Mules Varsity Baseball Team who, thanks to Coach Garrett Radcliffe, were wearing special warm up shirts, highlighting the Wahkiakum Autism Mule patch.

Baked goods flew off the shelves from lemon bundt cake and Amish cinnamon bread to handmade sourdough and focaccia, it was a feast of the senses. Not to mention the 12 different cookies they had to choose from, the best bakers in town showed their reputations were well deserved.

Organizers were delighted with the response from the community and look forward to taking steps forward in creating a Sensory Room for Wahkiakum students.
