Sheriff's Office moves into new offices

The Wahkiakum County Sheriff's Department held an open house last week to show off their new digs in the Wahkiakum County Courthouse. Their offices can now be accessed at the back of the building, where citizens enter a secure area to discuss their issues in a more private setting than before. The old nurse's office in what was once the Wahkiakum Health and Human Services department has become an interrogation room with cameras and recording devices that are motion and voice activated. The department also has a dedicated place for meetings, a kitchen and offices for the sheriff and the undersheriff and a room for the deputies which has been painted to reflect the colors of their uniforms.
