Wahkiakum commissioners conduct brief meeting

County commissioners met briefly in their regular Tuesday meeting. The commissioners heard from the fair board about the upcoming car show, the music festival in August, and the fairgrounds clean-up on May 20.

Representatives from Johnson Park discussed the issue of high heating bills and said that they will install covers on thermostats so that only authorized personnel can access them.

Law enforcement officers briefed the commissioners on the status of an abandoned RV on Elochman Valley road. The sheriff's department said that Fish and Wildlife officials are in charge of the pullout where the RV is located. Finally sheriff's deputy Brian Hornback was recognized as the law enforcement officer of the year by the Marine Corps League. Discussion of the shoreline master plan administration was put off until a future unspecified date.
