Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891

Auction fundraiser for local scholarships begins today (Thursday)

Wahkiakum Dollars for Scholars is giving $29,500 worth of scholarships to local students this year, and their annual online auction to raise money for the fund starts May 25 at noon and ends June 11 at 6 p.m.

There are some amazing things to bid on this year, including an hour long airplane flight, or a three night stay in a Sunriver home. There is a spring salmon fishing trip for two, or an event space for 50 people for four hours, as well as a custom knife by Dan Westlind, a Civil War quilt, and a handmade bench. Also available are one night of lodging and a voucher for a meal at The Duck Inn, or two nights at a Skamokawa beachfront cabin. There’s a cord of wood, salmon, and oysters too.
