WSD Superintendent Search

The Wahkiakum School District began its search for a replacement superintendent with an announcement carried throughout the state. The school board received many applications and invited five candidates for in-person interviews. These interviews are in process this week and next. During the in-person interviews each candidate meets with school board members and staff who represent the various departments at the school. Remaining staff and interested students are given the opportunity to meet the candidates at the end of the interview.

After the in-person interviews are complete, the school board plans to review the results and determine if any of the candidates will be brought back for further consideration. Successful candidates will be invited to visit the school district for a public meet and greet during the week of June 17th-21st. This will be a great opportunity for anyone in our community to meet and ask questions of our next superintendent. Check the district website for updates on the candidates, and the meeting locations, dates, times, and meeting format. Our next school board meeting is June 18th. Please attend to get the latest updates. Patty Anderson, school board member, explained: "We can't set these public meeting dates until we know which candidates we will invite, and their availability. We will get this info out as soon as we can. We really want the public to come in and meet the candidates, since this will impact the future of our schools, our community, and our county."

If all goes as planned, the school board will make a candidate decision by June 28th to give our new superintendent plenty of time to get ready for the next school year.
