Sheriff's report

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the last week, including:

August 19 4:09 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance assisted an elderly person who had fallen. 7:23 a.m. A Cathlamet resident requested assistance from paramedics. 8:32 p.m. Emergency services assisted a Cathlamet resident who had fallen.

August 20 1:39 p.m. A Westend caller reported a tree down blocking the west bound lane of SR4 east of Grays River. 3:37 p.m. A Elochoman Valley resident reported a vehicle had been parked for a few days on their property close to the road. The caller worried that the vehicle could be hit by a motorist. 3:58 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a resident with complications from diabetes. 5:58 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver on Puget Island. Deputies spoke with the driver who was having medical issues. 7:45 p.m. A Cathlamet caller reported children walking on SR4. The caller felt that they were too young to be walking on the highway without an adult. 8:05 p.m. A Puget Island homeowner reported a driver parked by their home taking pictures. Deputies reviewed video of the incident but observed no illegal activity.

August 21 2:41 p.m. Cathlamet emergency services responded to a resident with a foot injury. 3:20 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a neighbor had parked a trailer over their property line. 5:37 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Skamokawa resident with breathing problems. 3:47 p.m. A Skamokawa caller reported having medications stolen by someone they know.

August 22 5:09 p.m. A motorist who had left their boat and trailer at the summit of KM mountain returned to find it missing. The sheriff’s department checked with the Washington State Patrol who confirmed that they had not towed the boat.

August 23 2:03 p.m. A Puget Island homeowner called dispatch to ask for assistance with an electric car. The homeowner was concerned that the vehicle might catch on fire. The Puget Island Fire Department responded. 2:23 p.m. Deputies were contacted to assist a motorist on Main Street in Cathlamet who was locked out of their car. 10:10 p.m. A Puget Island resident complained about noise coming from a small get together. Deputies explained the county noise ordinance to the caller.

August 24 9:54 a.m. A motorist on Elochoman Valley road reported hitting a deer. 10:34 a.m. Sheriff’s deputies, the Cathlamet ambulance and Lifeflight responded to an elderly Cathlamet resident with stomach and back pain. 12:26 p.m. A Puget Island caller was concerned that cattle transport trucks taking up one lane of travel would cause an accident. 6:34 p.m. A Puget Island caller reported a person burning debris in a barrel. Deputies contacted the neighbor and let the person know that a burn ban is still in effect. 8:23 p.m. A Elochoman Valley caller reported a person having difficulty walking. Deputies contacted the person and gave them a ride to Longview.
