Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the last week, including:
October 21 7:49 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to a local resident who was unwell. 8:14 a.m. A caller reported a log truck speeding west of the Rosburg store. The Washington State Patrol was notified. 10:23 a.m. A Cathlamet caller reported a item was stolen from their home. The caller observed muddy footprints leading to a door which was unlocked. 11:44 a.m. A caller reported items were not included in the sale of a boat which had been agreed upon. The person called back to say that the items had been found. 11:56 a.m. Cathlamet emergency services responded to a Puget Island resident with high blood pressure. 8:13 p.m. Two reports of a vehicle parked with its lights off were reported in Grays River. 11:54 p.m. A tree was reported blocking both lanes of SR4 in the curves west of County Line Park.
October 22 8:32 a.m. A deceased deer was reported on Puget Island. 8:44 a.m. A caller reported hitting a deer on Columbia street in Cathlamet. 3:04 p.m. A motorist near Nassa Point pulled over and requested medical attention after experiencing pain on their left side. Emergency services transported the person to the hospital.
October 23 2:24 p.m. A welfare check was requested on a person the caller had not been able to contact for several weeks.
October 24 5:23 a.m. A caller to report that they had moved a deceased deer off SR4 after the person who hit the deer left the scene. Dispatch advised the Department of Transportation of the location of the deer. 8:02 a.m. A caller at a Cathlamet business reported a vehicle had been left in their parking lot for several days on a jack. 9:28 a.m. An automatic crash notification was received from a cell phone in the Cathlamet area. Dispatch called the number but got no response. 2:57 p.m. A caller east of Cathlamet reported that their husband had lost his cell phone somewhere on their property.
October 25 4:37 p.m. A Skamokawa caller reported cows on their property. The caller said that this was a reoccurring problem. 5:36 p.m. A Puget Island caller reported an injured deer that needed to be euthanized. 5:41 p.m. A homeowner on Risk Road was concerned that people parked nearby were planning on squatting on their property. Deputies responded but the motorhome was gone. 7:10 p.m. A tree was reported down blocking the westbound lane at County Line Park. 11:15 p.m. A Cathlamet caller reported hearing banging on their door and thought that people were trying to enter their home. Deputies in the area reported that there was a Halloween party at a nearby house.
October 26 10:27 a.m. A motorist reported diesel being leaked from a vehicle from the top of KM mountain to Skamokawa. The Skamokawa fire department responded but found the spill was only about half a gallon of fuel and 100 feet long. 12:54 p.m. The Grays River and Cathlamet fire departments responded to a vehicle fire east of the summit of KM mountain. The vehicle was described as fully engulfed. 6:47 p.m. The Grays River ambulance transported an elderly Westend resident to the hospital. 7:40 p.m. Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to a person near Elochoman lake who had fallen on an arrow. The patient was transported to the hospital in Longview. 10:13 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Deep River teen who was having difficulty breathing.
October 27 12:24 p.m. A Westend caller reported a tree blocking the southbound lane of Altoona Pillar Rock Road. 2:32 p.m. Cows were reported loose on Vaughn Road. An owner was notified but called back to say that they were not their cows. 4:22 p.m. A vehicle fire was reported east of5:43 p.m. County Line Park. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded. A motorist on Puget Island reported a speeding vehicle. The caller said that the driver expressed their feelings with a hand gesture.
