Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the last week, including:
November 4 9:35 a.m. Westend residents reported power outages. PUD reported all power was restored. 12 p.m. A caller reported a deer walking across SR 4 that looked like it had been shot. 2:07 p.m. A Cathlamet business called and reported stolen goods and that the incident was recorded on security cameras. 3:31 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report they believed a piece of their mail had been stolen.
November 5 12:55 p.m. A Puget Island resident called the Wahkiakum Sheriff’s Office to express concern over vehicles in the area speeding frequently, especially in the evening. The caller asked for more patrols in the area. 3:15 p.m. Deep River resident called to report that several vehicles had been speeding in the area over the last week. Wahkiakum deputies will suggest more patrols in the area.
November 6 1:03 a.m. Caller reports a tree blocking the road near the intersection of Mill Rd. County Roads reported tree has been removed. 6:53 a.m. A caller reported several vehicles speeding on the county road in Deep River. A Westend caller reported a vehicle parked on the side of the road and was concerned it may be struck by other motorists. 10:31 a.m. Deputies responded to a caller who reported that they were verbally threatened by the driver of a speeding vehicle after the caller yelled at them to slow down. 5:01 p.m. Sheriff deputies arrived to assist a caller after they locked their keys in their car. 5:36 p.m. Cathlamet caller reports that they had just hit a deer, and it went into the driveway of a neighboring home. 6:46 p.m. Wahkiakum deputies assisted Pacific County Deputies in apprehending an individual with a warrant in Wahkiakum County.
November 7 1:34 p.m. A Cathlamet resident stated that water was flowing from above them and flooding their garage and that their neighbor’s yard is full of water as well. 6:31 p.m. A resident hit a deer on Elochoman Valley Rd., the driver was uninjured, and the vehicle was damaged but drivable.
November 8 8:58 a.m. Caller reported that they had hit a deer the night before on SR4. 11:13 a.m. A Deep River resident called to report that their neighbor’s cows are making a lot of noise. 1:52 p.m. Cathlamet resident called to report a missing flip phone last seen at the courthouse; it was searched for and not located. 2:14 p.m. Cathlamet Fire Department responded to a caller who reported their neighbor was burning next to their fence and too close to structures. 4:08 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report an injured deer in their yard; wildlife officers advised the caller of the rules regarding salvaging roadkill. 7:12 p.m. Deputies responded to an unoccupied van in a ditch near SR 4. The owner of the vehicle called to inform responders that he accidentally crashed into the ditch. No injuries were reported.
November 9 The Cathlamet ambulance a assisted a elderly person with breathing difficulties. A caller reported an abandoned vehicle parked by the Elochoman river. Deputies responded and found a note from the owner that said that they would be back to retrieve the vehicle.
November 10 1:33 a.m. Wahkiakum emergency services responded to a single-vehicle rollover accident. No injuries were reported and the vehicle not blocking the roadway. 4:27 p.m. Puget Island resident called to report someone had come onto his property and pushed his boat from the shore and moved a piece of equipment closer to the water line. 9:50 a.m. Deputies assisted a Cathlamet resident after they locked their keys in the car. 12:57 p.m. A caller reported a struck deer was lying in the middle of Welcome Slough Road. Deputies removed the deer. 7:21 a.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report an injured hawk in their yard.
