Sheriff's Report

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the last week, including:

December 2 9:49 a.m. Sheriff’s deputies helped a Puget Island resident who was locked out of their vehicle. 12:56 p.m. A caller reported three abandoned vehicles on Eden Valley Road. 5:44 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported loose dogs out and running on the road.

December 3 12:43 p.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance responded to a Cathlamet resident who was having back issues. 11:48 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported power boxes being open and a vehicle parked nearby with a subject in the area. Deputies confirmed the subject was a worker and was authorized to be in the area.

December 4 2:40 p.m. Emergency Medical Services responded to a sick person in Cathlamet.

December 5 5:29 a.m. Grays River Ambulance responded to an elderly person who had fallen. 10:36 a.m. A caller in Cathlamet reported that the tree fence at Strong Park had been vandalized and torn open. 2:15 p.m. A business owner called and asked sheriff’s deputies to deliver an item to a previous employee. The employee told deputies the employer could just mail it to their post office box, deputies passed the information along to the caller. 8:50 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report they had found a wallet between the Rat Tap and The Market.

December 6 10:56 a.m. Cathlamet Ambulance responded to a sick patient on Puget Island. 3:02 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report that the neighbor left the music playing loudly in their shop and never turns it off. 3:19 p.m. A resident in Cathlamet called to report damage done to some trees on their property.

December 7 12:03 a.m. District 4 fire department responded to a brush fire on Elk Meadow Dr. Fire was put out. 5:00 a.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a car in a ditch on W SR 4, no medical attention was needed. 7:15 a.m. Multiple power outages were reported in Skamokawa. PUD advises all power is restored. 7:27 A driver on W SR 4 called to report a tree was down and blocking the westbound lane. 11:30 a.m. Deputies responded to a Cathlamet resident who called to report that a brick was thrown at them and struck them in the head, one person was arrested. 12:09 p.m. A caller in Cathlamet reported an erratic driver on Front St.

December 8 1:50 a.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to unattended burn piles on Elk Meadows Drive, fires were extinguished, and a citation was issued. 6:42 p.m. A driver on SR 4 MP 43 called to report a rock the size of a basketball on the center line. 7:28 p.m. A caller reported several rocks appearing to be around 12 inches in both lanes on SR4 MP 39.
