Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the last week, including:
December 15 12:07 a.m. A caller reported suspicious individuals in the Greenwood Cemetery Mausoleum. Wahkiakum Sheriff’s deputies responded and found the individuals sitting on a public bench, and no criminal activity was occurring. 12:58 a.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance responded to an Elderly resident who had fallen. 7:04 p.m. A caller on Brook Slough Rd reported a large tree in the roadway.
December 16 12:38 a.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report that their alarm sensor was stolen from their mailbox.
December 17 10:55 a.m. A driver on Oneida Rd., MP 1-2, called to report a tree in the roadway blocking both lanes and rocks falling from the hillside. 1:33 p.m. Wahkiakum County Sheriff helped a boater on Whites Island whose boat had broken down. 2:38 a.m. A caller on the curves west of Skamokawa reported a tree in the road. 5:22 p.m. Sheriff’s Deputies assisted a Cathlamet resident who had locked their keys in their car. 8:33 p.m. Water on roadways in the Westend: North and South Satterlund, and Covered Bridge Rd. have signs out. Wainmo Rd. and West End Loop Rd. closed due to high water.
December 18 4:06 a.m. The Grays River Fire Department responded to multiple power outages reported on East SR 4. 7:57 a.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to a residence that was full of smoke. Wrappings around the waterlines were overheating, firefighters assisted with dispersing the smoke. 8:33 a.m. A Deep River resident called to report that their barn door was open after being chained closed. Nothing was missing and neighbors did not see anything. 9:22 a.m. A caller on Elochoman Valley Rd. reported several farm animals loose in the roadway, and the owner was notified. 12:33 p.m. Deputies responded to a triggered burglary alarm at a Cathlamet residence, the cleaning people had set off the alarm. 3:04 p.m. A caller in Deep River requested assistance in locating and recovering a boathouse that had broken loose during the storm. 3:55 p.m. A citizen turned in a debit card they found in the Post Office lobby. 4:22 p.m. A driver on SR 4 MP 37 called to report a broken-down vehicle with flashers on was partially blocking the westbound lane. 5:45 p.m. A citizen driving on SR 4 and Main St. called to report a person hitchhiking. 8:10 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that they saw someone putting garbage in the Firehall dumpster.
December 19 10:25 a.m. A Rosburg resident called to report that their firearm had been stolen from inside their travel trailer. 2:39 p.m. Cathlamet Ambulance responded to an elderly person who was having chest pain. 5:26 p.m. Deputies responded to a hit-and-run in the River St. Parking lot, someone hit a parked car and drove away. 6:48 p.m. Cathlamet Emergency Services helped with a lift assist for an elderly Cathlamet resident. 8:13 p.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance responded to a resident who had a possible broken nose after being headbutted by their small child.
December 20 8:10 a.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance responded to an elderly person with stomach pain. 9:05 p.m. A caller on the Puget Island Bridge found a cell phone in the middle of the bridge and turned it into the Sheriff’s office. 3:15 p.m. The Grays River Ambulance responded to an elderly resident who was having severe stomach pain. 5:39 p.m. An elderly resident in Cathlamet called for assistance from the Cathlamet Ambulance after falling. 9:27 p.m. A Skamokawa resident who was out of town called to report seeing a suspicious person on their property through their security camera. The Sheriff’s deputies found nothing but would continue patrolling the area.
December 21 9:14 a.m. A driver on N Welcome Slough Road reported a dead deer in the roadway. 9:47 p.m. A caller on Jacobsen Rd. and SR 4 reported a disabled vehicle sitting in the turning lane. 9:44 p.m. Cathlamet Emergency Services assisted an elderly Puget Island resident who was having breathing difficulty.
December 22 A Puget Island resident called to report a dead deer in their driveway. 4:39 p.m. A Deep River Resident called to report that their freezer and fridge were broken into, nothing was taken but they believe that their food is not safe to eat.
