Sheriff's Report

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the last week, including:

December 23 4:01 a.m. Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to an elderly Skamokawa resident who was having abdominal issues. 9:57 a.m. A vehicle accident occurred on W Birnie Slough Rd. 11:24 a.m. The Skamokawa Fire Department Responded to a car accident on E Valley Rd. Two occupants were involved and LifeFlight was dispatched. 11:33 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported trespassers on their property. Sheriff’s deputies found no suspicious persons or vehicles. 6:43 p.m. A caller on E SR4 reported large branches in the road.

December 24 3:23 p.m. Wahkiakum Sheriff Deputies responded to a vehicle that went off the road and into the culvert on W SR4. There were no injuries and the vehicle was towed. 3:54 p.m. A driver on E Valley Rd MP 5 called to report a fallen tree blocking both lanes. 6:49 p.m. The Skamokawa Fire Department responded to a lift assist for an elderly person. 9:41 p.m. A Puget Island resident called to report a vehicle that had been parked in front of their gate with the engine running for an hour. Deputies did not see the vehicle when they responded.

December 15 4:13 a.m. Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to an elderly person in Cathlamet who was having chest pain. 11:07 a.m. Cathlamet Ambulance responded to a medical pendant activation in Skamokawa. 3:19 p.m. Multiple Power outages were reported in rural Cathlamet, PUD was on scene. 4:17 p.m. A caller in Cathlamet reported an erratic person wearing cat ears dancing on the highway on SR4. 9:07 p.m. A tree that was blocking the westbound lane was reported west of Nassa Point by a driver on SR4. 10:29 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to a power or internet line down across the road on E Birnie Slough Rd. PUD advised it was a phone line and law enforcement removed it. 11:28 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported hearing a loud bang and seeing a yellow flash before momentarily losing power. Cathlamet Fire Department responded and found a phone line down.

December 26 3:26 a.m. Power outages were reported in rural Cathlamet on River Ridge Rd. and Greenwood Rd. 4:25 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 10 by 15-foot shed blocking the southbound lane on SR 409 MP 2. Deputies removed the shed from the roadway. 5:10 a.m. A caller on Beaver Creek Rd. in Cathlamet reported a large tree blocking both lanes. 5:23 a.m. The District 4 Fire Department responded to multiple power outages in Cathlamet due to a downed power line. 7:21 a.m. A driver on Beaver Creek reported a tree hanging over the roadway too low to drive under. 7:32 a.m. Power outages were reported on E Birnie Slough Rd. and East Rd. 7:55 p.m. Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of rocks over both lanes of SR 4. 8:03 a.m. A caller on Altoona Pillar Rock Rd. called to report a landslide blocking both lanes and water over the roadway. 12:41 p.m. A diver on SR 4 East called to report two vehicles with flat tires on the side of the road at MP 39. 12:53 p.m. The District 4 Fire Department responded to an internet line that was downed outside of a Cathlamet residence. 2:17 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report their male fawn pug missing. The dog has tan fur and a collar with ID tags. 2:47 p.m. A caller reported seeing an erratic driver on SR 4 East near the Shell Station. 4:14 p.m. The County reported damage to the roof of a county-owned building at the Skamokawa Fairgrounds.

December 27 7:41 a.m. The Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to an Elderly Cathlamet resident who was sick with the flu. 1:32 p.m. Wahkiakum Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a Cathlamet resident who reported their vehicle had been stolen. 7:45 p.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance responded to an elderly Cathlamet resident who had fallen.

December 28 4:02 p.m. A vehicle on SR 4 West MP 27 had flashers on while sitting on the side of the road, Sheriff’s Deputies advised WSP to check on the driver. 9:02 a.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to a Puget Island resident whose powerline was partially detached and was hanging from the pole. 5:17 A Cathlamet resident called Sheriff’s Deputies to report that they had found what they believed was a small baggy of drugs.

December 29 5:58 a.m. Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a broken-down boat near River Mile 41. Deputies towed the vessel and two occupants to the Elochoman Marina. 10:24 a.m. The Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to an Elderly person with severe pain. 1:34 p.m. A Cathlamet Resident called to report a vehicle parked in front of their house that they were not familiar with. 3:15 p.m. Sheriff’s Deputies helped a person who was locked out of their car in Cathlamet. 3:15 p.m. A caller on Altoona Pillar Rock Rd. reported a tree in the roadway blocking one lane.
