Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the last week, including:
December 30 8:20 a.m. A caller in the Westend reported that a gun had been missing for about a month. The caller did not have documentation about the gun. 10:55 a.m. A Cathlamet Caller reported a line down on Boege road. The caller said they thought it was not a powerline. 1:14 p.m. A Cathlamet caller requested assistance after they locked their keys in their car. 1:28 p.m. a single vehicle collision with a power pole was reported the PUD was notified. The caller said they were requesting a tow truck. 4:44 p.m. A Puget Island caller reported a person moving rocks and cones on someone else’s property. A Westend caller reported a backhoe was blocking the roadway. Deputies contacted the owner who said they would have it towed into their driveway within the next few days and that it posed no hazard at this time.
December 31 12:35 a.m. A Cathlamet caller reported finding a ladder under a window at their house. 2:29 a.m. at Puget Island caller reported that there was a vehicle parked in the driveway of an unoccupied home with its headlights on the caller said that their also appears to be lights on inside the house. 8 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that their neighbor was lighting off fireworks and they were hitting the caller’s home.
January 1 11:11 p.m A caller in Altoona said that they found a bottle with a message in it on the beach. The caller said the bottle looks like it has a sheriff’s report in it, and they would like a deputy to come and open it.
January 2, 10:30 a.m. A caller reported an erratic driver going westbound near Abe Creek. 11:16 a.m. a caller reported an erratic driver traveling at excessive speed west of Cathlamet.
January 3 2:01 p.m. a caller reported a dog running up and down their street with no leash near the Cathlamet fire station.
January 4 7:59 a.m. A Cathlamet resident requested emergency services after experiencing a fall. The person declined transportation to the hospital. 10:34 a.m. A Westend resident requested assistance from the sheriff’s department in removing a person from their home. 1:37 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance was requested to assist someone who had fallen. 2:53 p.m. An East County caller reported that their neighbor’s dog had killed a chicken. The dogs owner originally said they would pay for damages and later refused to pay for the chicken. 3:07 p.m. A vehicle was reported partially blocking the eastbound lane near Bjorsgard road. The Washington state patrol was notified. The motorist called back to say they had gotten a jump for their battery and no longer needed assistance. 6:48 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a tree blocking east Birnie Slough road. 7:27 p.m. A Cathlamet caller reported, an erratic driver. Sheriff deputies responded and found that the vehicle had a flat tire one person was taken into custody. 10:23 p.m. Cathlamet emergency services responded to a person with breathing difficulties
January 5 3:50 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle with a trailer loading items from the market. 11:30 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported a deer that had been attacked. 3:38 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to a Westend resident who had fallen. 4:28 p.m. A caller west of Cathlamet reported vehicles parked on the side of the road and two men climbing in trees.
