Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the last week, including:
January 6 9:05 p.m. The Grays River Ambulance responded to a call from a sick resident in the Westend. 12:18 p.m. Cathlamet Emergency Services assisted an elderly Wahkiakum resident who had fallen. 1:13 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report that they believe a business in Cowlitz County had scammed their elderly relative. 3:06 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of vandalism at Erikson Park; vents and doors had been kicked and damaged in the bathrooms. 4:16 p.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance responded to a call for an Elderly resident who had fallen. 5:54 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report that they had been followed by a vehicle as they were walking the Elochoman Marina Trail and that a person got out of the vehicle, screamed, and followed them a short distance. 7:05 p.m. A driver in Skamokawa on SR4 called to report five-gallon paint buckets in the road, just past the goat farm.
January 7 12:43 a.m. A Wahkiakum County resident called to report that they saw someone advertising fake identification cards on social media. 6:03 a.m. Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene of a vehicle that had gone off the road and into a ditch on SR4 MP 27. 8:22 a.m. A caller on Mill Rd. reported a low tree hanging over the road. 9:18 a.m. A driver in Cathlamet called to report an erratic driver passed them on SR4. 12:27 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an inmate intentionally clogging a holding cell toilet with a sheet.
January 8 1:26 p.m. Cathlamet Fire Department received a report of chimney flames coming from a Puget Island residence; there were no visible flames when responders arrived on the scene. 10:59 a.m. A caller in the Westend reported a suspicious individual trespassing on private property on Salme Hill. 7:46 p.m. A driver on the Westside of KM Mountain called to report that they had hit an elk.
January 9 9:27 p.m. Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to an elderly Skamokawa resident who was sick.
January 10 7:53 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Cathlamet resident with severe neck pain. 8:35 a.m. A caller at Erikson Park reported that people were camping in the park bathrooms. 9:52 a.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a vehicle that had driven through a Cathlamet business’s storefront; there were no injuries. 1:41 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a fraudulent phone call they received that said their identity had been used in various crimes. 3:37 p.m. A driver on SR 4 MP 45 called to report that a vehicle was stopped in a blind spot on the S curve and was blocking the westbound lane. 5:10 p.m. County Roads responded to a report of multiple trees down on Beaver Creek Rd. blocking the eastbound lane.
January 11 8 p.m. A Puget Island resident called to report two large, white dogs loose on N Welcome Slough. 11:23 p.m. A caller on E Valley Rd. reported that a vehicle hit their fence, causing damage, and drove away without stopping.
January 12 8:08 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported two cows wandering east Sunny Sands Rd. 5:59 p.m. A driver in Cathlamet called to request assistance after getting locked out of their vehicle. 10:24 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call on Puget Island of two loose dogs running around on E Birnie Sl. Rd.
