Sheriff's Report

Emergency Information Lines: 795-3911 Toll Free from the Westend 877-795-3910; Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the last week, including:

February 10 1:01 p.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance responded to help an elderly Cathlamet resident who was having leg pain.

February 11 1:07 p.m. Cathlamet Emergency Services assisted an elderly resident who had fallen. 1:11 p.m. A concerned resident reported a suspicious phone call in which they were asked to purchase gift cards but did not. 2:35 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an assault west of Cathlamet. 2:56 p.m. A driver on Greenwood Rd. called to report that a dump truck lost rocks while driving up a hill. 2:57 p.m. A Cathlamet resident received assistance from the Cathlamet Ambulance for chest pain.

February 12 3:28 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report that another dog had attacked their dog near Erickson Park. The caller stated that a large dog ran up to their dog and attacked. Their dog is having trouble walking but did not have severe injuries. 4:22 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report that they received certified mail and were concerned it may be a scam. Deputies advised the caller to check their credit for evidence of ID theft and return if any evidence of fraud is found. 6:18 p.m. A Puget Island resident called to report that dogs are barking again. 6:54 p.m. Deputies responded to reports of a caller hearing a woman screaming east of Cathlamet. Deputies patrolled the area and found nothing suspicious and the sound was believed to be an animal. 8:46 p.m. A caller in Grays River reported a vehicle pulled into the parking lot of a business, claiming to have broken down. The caller reported that they heard coming from the vehicle what sounded like either two gunshots or the vehicle backfiring. The vehicle then left going east on SR4.

February 13 8:58 a.m. A concerned citizen called to report that an unknown vehicle was parked in front of the Cathlamet Library, blocking the mailbox and book drop.

February 14 9:44 a.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance responded to a call for a Cathlamet resident who was having high blood pressure. 8:24 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to request an ambulance for sudden illness. 11:57 p.m. The Grays River Ambulance responded to assist a Westend resident who was having high blood pressure.

February 15 6:47 p.m. The Grays River Fire District and Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to a one-vehicle rollover accident on Altoona Pillar Rock Rd.

February 16 12:04 p.m. A caller on SR4 called to report rocks in the roadway on both lanes near Flandersville Rd. 2:23 p.m. A concerned citizen in Cathlamet called to report animal neglect.
