March 31 9:46 a.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance responded to assist an elderly Puget Island resident who was having trouble breathing. 10:43 a.m. A driver on SR4 called to report that a vehicle was partially blocking the eastbound lane; it was sitting with its hood up and had two passengers in it west of the county line. 12:59 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call for a camper to be removed from the Puget Island Boat Launch after the camper’s owner was told they could stay overnight, but the caller needed them to leave now. 9:14 p.m. A concerned citizen called to report a suspicious vehicle near a business in downtown Cathlamet.
April 1 8:56 a.m. The Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to a call from an elderly Cathlamet resident who was having severe back pain. 4:58 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report that an elderly person in their care had given their banking information to a scammer claiming to be with law enforcement. 7:38 p.m. A boater off the north end of Puget Island called and reported a body floating in the river a mile or two east of the bridge, Coast Guard was notified and retreival efforts were underway.
April 2 12:51 a.m. A caller on SR4 reported a vehicle on the side of the road near the county line that looked like it had been in an accident. The side was damaged, but the two passengers seemed uninjured. 9:22 a.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance responded to assist an elderly Cathlamet resident who had fainted. 12:29 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report a deceased adult bald eagle in their ditch; the caller had also informed fish and wildlife. 1:28 p.m. The Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to a call for an elderly Cathlamet resident who was having low blood pressure. 5:02 p.m. A caller in Cathlamet requested law enforcement’s assistance in retrieving dogs from a Cathlamet residence on behalf of an individual in WCO custody.
April 3 9:12 a.m. An elderly resident of Skamokawa called to request a welfare check, as they had not seen their spouse, who has dementia, since early that morning. Deputies searched for the vehicle, and after an hour, the resident called back to report that their spouse had returned home. 9:43 a.m. A teacher at Wahkiakum High School called to request an officer to pick up a marijuana dab pen they had confiscated from a student. 9:50 a.m. A Cathlamet resident called to say they had been assaulted by a family member the previous day after they stopped paying a phone bill. 12:09 p.m. Power outages were reported on 3rd St. and Main St .; PUD reported that power was restored. 12:09 p.m. An Elm St. resident in Cathlamet reported a power outage and mentioned that a power pole was down and the lines were lying on their house. 12:10 p.m. A caller at 3rd and Angle St. reported that the power lines were flailing and they heard a loud explosion. 2:42 p.m. A caller reported finding a wallet in front of the Duck Inn and said they would bring it to the Sheriff’s office; deputies contacted the owner of the wallet. 3:19 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report that their license plates had been stolen three months earlier.
April 4 5:43 p.m. A resident of Cathlamet called to report that their home alarm system was alerting them, indicating that a window was open. Deputies checked for signs of entry and found none; the window in question was partially locked and could not be opened, so the officer closed it completely. 7:35 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report that an unknown person vandalized a tree by cutting off several large branches by the creek on their property. 5:37 p.m. A caller on SR4 reported that an unconscious person was sitting in their vehicle near the passing lanes. The caller stated that the driver had been sitting there unconscious for at least two hours for unknown reasons, and they were unable to check on the driver because there was a dog in the vehicle. The driver slowly gained consciousness but was in and out and seemed to be in an altered state. There seemed to be some damage to the vehicle and a possible collision; officers stated this was a possible DUI. 7:55 p.m. A concerned citizen called to report that they saw three people who they believed to be intoxicated leave a local restaurant and drive away in the direction of SR4.
April 5 12:16 p.m. A caller at Skamokaway Vista Park called to report that they found a car key with a keychain on the ground at the park. 1:12 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called for medical assistance for loss of feeling in their hand and arm. 1:42 p.m. The Grays River Ambulance responded to assist an elderly Grays River resident who had fallen. 1:51 p.m. A driver on SR4 west of Alger Creek reported a large boulder in the westbound lane. 2:55 p.m. A caller on Mill Creek Rd reported loose dogs running in the road and the owners were unknown. 3:56 p.m. A power outage was reported at A Grays River residence on W SR 4; PUD was referred.
April 6 6:13 a.m. A Cathlamet resident called for the Cathlamet Ambulance because their elderly parent was having trouble breathing. 9:50 a.m. The Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to assist an elderly resident with chest pressure and breathing difficulties. 10:03 p.m. A caller on Risk Rd. in Cathlamet reported hearing what sounded like either fireworks or someone shooting guns for the last 20 minutes. Sheriff’s deputies were unable to locate the source of the noise.
