Trinity Outdoors has official ribbon cutting

Following its meeting earlier this month, the Clatskanie Chamber of Commerce officially cut the ribbon for Trinity Outdoors, LLC. Located at 183 N. Nehalem Street in Clatskanie, Trinity Outdoors, according to co-owner Jason Folden, offers work clothes, ammo, hunting gear, and "most everything fishing," as well as offers to sell used firearms on consignment. " I've always wanted to do a gun store," Jason said. "It just happened that we needed fishing gear. I had seen an opportunity and jumped on it... I hate going to Longview for stuff. I like local."

According to Jason's wife and store co-owner Katie, firearms aren't the only popular item for consignment. "There's a big request for fishing rods and reels," she said. "A lot of guys who are retiring, they can't do it anymore, but you don't want to sell it at a garage sale because you just don't get the value."

Though their store's current best seller is a hoodie with the Trinity Outdoors logo, Jason and Katie have found other ways to meet their customers' needs. "It's nice and convenient when guys are on the job and, all of a sudden, when they get huge rips in their pants, they swing in and they get something and they go right back to work so they don't lose time," said Katie. "It just makes it convenient. We want to be available when the need's there and making sure we were there with the shift turnover was a huge one. There's a lot of people who need someplace to go on Sundays. We've found that's becoming very popular." Echoing his wife's sentiment, Jason said, "That was always a pet peeve of mine [when] the business was closed on Sunday. But I still want this on Sunday."

The longer their business stays open, the more Jason and Katie find their inventory variety increasing. " We do a lot of special ordering," Katie said. "We're just trying to bring it up and build it into something that will be a benefit to all. That's kind of the goal."
