Sheriff's Report

April 7 4:10 a.m. A caller on E SR4 near the west passing lanes called to report that a fallen tree was entirely blocking the eastbound lane. 7:17 a.m. The Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to assist an elderly Cathlamet resident who was experiencing pain in their arms. 1:41 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report seeing suspicious lights on in an abandoned neighboring residence. 4:53 p.m. The Puget Island Fire Department responded to reports of a power outage on W Sunny Sands Road on Puget Island; PUD was advised. 5:43 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a Puget Island resident who said they were assaulted by someone they knew. 9:26 p.m. A driver on W SR4 called to report that a cow was blocking the eastbound lane and walking toward Cathlamet; the cow was reportedly solid black and located near Brooks Slough. Deputies were able to locate the loose cow and get it back where it belonged.

April 8 9:02 a.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance responded to assist an elderly resident who had fainted after walking up a flight of stairs. 10 a.m. A driver on SR4 reported a tree leaning across the road on the west side of KM Mountain. 11:27 a.m. A caller on E SR4 reported that an unknown person was standing outside asking for money in the rain; the caller was concerned because the person was not dressed for the weather. 11:49 a.m. A concerned citizen called to report vehicles that were going at a high rate of speed near the Elochoman Grade.

April 9 8:30 a.m. The entry alarm was triggered at a residence on 2nd Street in Cathlamet; a company hired to paint had opened the door and triggered the alarm. 12:14 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report that someone had kicked their front door and scared them before running away.

April 10 9:54 a.m. A welfare check was requested for a Puget Island resident after the bank was unable to contact them; deputies found the resident and confirmed they were healthy and safe. 12:53 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report that they found a German Shepherd puppy; deputies learned the neighboring resident was the puppy’s owner and left the puppy in the fenced yard. 6:29 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that someone was taking gravel from property on Risk Rd. and putting it into their vehicle. 10:46 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that their neighbors were playing loud music outside. The resident requested that deputies ask the neighbors to turn it down.

April 11 2:31 p.m. Sheriff’s Deputies responded after several reports were made about an empty canoe floating down the river, which later became submerged several yards off the bank near the bottom of Abe Creek Hill. 7:22 p.m. Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to assist a Puget Island resident who had a traumatic injury to the hand. 10:12 p.m. A concerned citizen called to report seeing an individual they believed to be intoxicated getting into their vehicle and then almost hitting another vehicle and driving erratically on SR4 headed west. 11:05 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported finding Springer Spaniels and could not contact the owners and asked if someone could take the dogs. Deputies contacted WAAG after the owner failed to pick up the dogs from the caller.

April 12 12:29 a.m. Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to assist an elderly Cathlamet resident who was experiencing throat pain and chest tightness. 3:08 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies assisted a Cathlamet resident who locked their keys in their vehicle. 6:11 p.m. A Skamokawa resident called to report seeing three unknown people on their front porch trying to enter the home. When deputies arrived, they could not locate anyone else on the property besides the caller. 7:17 p.m. A caller on Steamboat Slough Rd. reported that someone was walking their four dogs without leashes and that the dogs surrounded them aggressively, and one allegedly bit the caller on the calf without breaking skin. 8:39 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report seeing an erratic person who seemed intoxicated get out of their vehicle, walk unsteadily into a Cathlamet business, then get back into their vehicle and drive off.

April 13 12:54 a.m. A driver on Elochoman Valley Rd. called to report a fallen tree and what appeared to be powerlines in the river. 12:55 p.m. A Puget Island resident called to report that their neighbor’s dog had been barking constantly and that this had allegedly gone on all day and night, non-stop, for four years. When deputies spoke to the dog owner, they said that they were unaware of the complaints and claimed their dog only barks when people walk by. 4:38 p.m. A caller on SR4 near the bottom of Able Creek Hill called to report a vehicle driving erratically at a high rate of speed traveling westbound. 8:02 p.m. The Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to help a Cathlamet resident who was unconscious.
