The Clatskanie track and field team competed at two different meets over the weekend, beginning with the Tenino Twilight Relays Friday, April 11. For the boys, the quartet of Daylon Gutierrez, Aidan Bailey, Ayden Blackshire, and Ryder Gorley finished third in the Men’s 4X100 Relay with a time of 47.04; second in the Men’s 4X200 Relay with a time of 1:38.62; and third in the Men’s 4X400 Relay with a time of 3:46.09. The team of Tristan Bocanegra, Quin May, Mickey Simpson, and Zach Swinford finished third in the Men’s SMR 800M with a time of 1:53.43. In the field for the boys, Gavin Larson and Braydon Top tied for fifth in the Men’s High Jump with twin leaps of 5 feet, 4 inches.
For the girls, Lacey Willis and Natalie Baker finished second and third respectively in the Women’s 100M with times of 13.36 and 13.75. In the Women’s 1600M, Mai Lowe and Angelica Todd took second and third place respectively with times of 6:57.91 and 7:59.41. In team competition, the quartet of Willis, Baker, Rainey Palm and Mya Jensen took first place in the Women’s 4X100 relay with a time of 54.43 and third place in the Women’s 4X200 Relay with a time of 1:57.06. In the Women’s 4X400 Relay, the team of Baker, Jensen, Willis, and Simone Ellen took first place with a time of 4:32.88, while the team of Lowe. Todd, Ellen, and Izzy Mustola took third place in the Women’s 4X800 Relay with a time of 12:46.67. The team of Mustola, Kiera Caceres, Caselyn Thompson, and Alycia Vanderzanden took fourth place in the Women’s SMR 800M with a time of 2:24.52.
In the field for the girls, Elle Tompkins took third in the Women’s Shot Put 4Kg with a distance of 28 feet, 2.5 inches and third place in the Women’s 1Kg Discus with a distance of 72 feet, 2 inches. Alainah Perkins took fifth in the same event with a distance of 75 feet, 6 inches. In the Women’s Javelin 600g, Julianna Erickson took third with a distance of 82 feet, 4 inches, and Tompkins took fourth with a distance of 80 feet. Finally, Paytan Ward took fifth in the Women’s Long Jump with a distance of 12 feet, 9.5 inches.
The following day (April 12), the team traveled to Saint Helens for the Lower Columbia Invitational. In track competition for the boys, Bailey took third place in the Men’s 400M with a time of 53.54, and Spain Bocanegra took third in the Men’s 3000M with a time of 11:23.57. In the field for the boys, Gorley took fifth in the Men’s High Jump with a height of 5 feet, 4 inches, and May took third in the Men’s Pole Vault with a height of 9 feet, 6 inches.
For the girls, Willis took second in the Women’s 200M with a time of 28.63, while Baker took fifth in the Women’s 400M with a time of 1:04.43. Lowe managed a fifth-place finish in the Women’s 1500M with a time of 6:30.41 and Baker’s time of 12:58.02 in the Women’s 3000M was good enough for second place. In team competition, the quartet of Willis, Baker, Jensen, and Rainey Palm took third place in the Women’s 4X100 Relay with a time of 54.71, and the team of Vanderzanden, Palm, Josephine Byrne, and Grace Hadley took fourth in the Women’s 4X400 Relay with a time of 5:26.71. In the field, Tompkins took third in the Women’s Shot Put with a distance of 28 feet, 6.5 inches, and Jensen took third in the Women’s Discus 1Kg with a distance of 86 feet, 4 inches. Rounding out the competition for the day, Willis’ height of 4 feet, 10 inches was good enough for second place in the Women’s High Jump.
The team has a Jog-a-thon this Friday, April 18, will travel to Gervais next Thursday, April 24 for the Gervais Home Meet and will then travel to Kalama next Friday, April 25 for the Kalama Twilight Invitational.
